Hackensack Appreciation

October 7 2007, 6:48 AM

Hi all, I want to express my appreciation for being invited to carve at Hackensack & I look at it as a privilege to have taken part & has enlightened me to the areas where I definitely need a lot of practice. I thank, AJ & Squirrel & the entire volunteer base that were so helpful & friendly. I want to thank all the carvers involved for helping me understand comps & the extremes of speed & detail that can be accomplished in such a short time. I also want to comment to Rick & Liz Boni that they should be very proud of such a wonderful person their Daughter has turned out to be & my compliments to ya Zoe & you deserved all the awards at Hackensack & more as you are a person “straight from the heart” & I predict you will go farther than your dreams can take you if you follow this same path. You’re a lucky Dude Chad & a pretty nice guy yourself! As for the bib Steve, We all had to wear one & when my Wife & I viewed the pic posted here, her comment was, “Angie looks like she needs a rest from her busy schedule!” Thanks to all involved in this event!

The Bibs were not a big hit...

October 7 2007, 11:41 PM

I need one when I look at Bob Kings tool chest though.

Let me ask you this...What would make a cool competitor's outfit???

P. S. Jen, you are the bomb, thanks for all the good words and pictures. If you haven't met Jen, You have an impoverished definition of the word "brilliant".

BTW, I hope all the "chixies" come to town next time. Alicia hint hint Steff hint hint...

Actually the handshake included the passing of a sandwich and a small fries. I then did some "Mindfreak ****" and hovered off the ground. hehehehe

Re: Hackensack Appreciation

October 8 2007, 5:47 AM

Well I just had a really nice break ... slept 12 hours through and am ready to head off on a wild road trip with Shapoor and Dorett to Holland on Wednesday ... but Robbin thank your wife for her concern. It was funny with the bibs as when Lisa and I came down stairs we spotted Robbin and were all over him and he said ... "Am I the first one you have seen ??". Well ... Yeah !!! Very funny. Later in the night our Elvis impersoator danced with Uncle Pats bib ... it was a great time.
Yes Hackensack is a very groovy event and I always learn more at every event I attend. It's very exciting !! I too hope that in the New Year all the Chix can hang out en-masse at several events ... that would be so much fun ... and with our individual styles and vibrant energy we manage to shine even brighter. In the mean time I'm very excited to be catching up with Stephi again very soon.
Also I was at the Brookfield Zoo in Chicago briefly and it is an awesome venue to hold the Echo Cup. I wish all the participants luck ... it is going to be a tough competition ... and I look forward to seeing pictures of the pieces created very soon.
I am also looking forward to going home in November (I haven't been home since May), mainly so I can hug the dogs and cats and eat vegemite on toast ... though no rest due there as the work piles up in my absence ... which is all good.
Take care all ... Angie

We also had a great time.

October 8 2007, 8:10 PM

We also had a great time in Hackensack. We loved everything from the banquet dinner to the fire sculpture. Everyone carved fantastic pieces. I was also honored to meet AJ and Kathy (who is a fantastic cook and even made us a meal with ingredients of items I wasn't allergic too. I can't even seem to do this for myself, so I was very touched.) It was also great meeting up with Ross and his fine crew, Dennis Roghair has to be one of the nicest men I have ever met I also loved his wife Bev. I was disappointed that we did not make it to their shop to look around and visit. Paul Albright is a fantastic carver and it was great to see his deer sculpture up close. We met so many carvers both carving and watching it would be hard to name them all, but it was great meeting them all! It sounds like I don't get out much? lol

It was great seeing the chainsaw chicks in action. April Etue and I stopped by to watch them perform at one of the banks in a near by town while we were on our tour to view the autumn leaves. Also everyone loved getting their Chainsaw Chick tatoos. Jen Ruth did a great job bringing them all together and giving them such a jazzy name.

Michelle Scoggins had designed a new t-shirt that she released for sale at the banquet dinner. I kept seeing girls wearing them all over town. They were a big hit, maybe she'll make them available online soon.

Anyway, thanks to everyone attending and involved in the Hackensack event. I would give it 5 stars if we did such a thing with events.

Cindy
