I do not believe all of this was handled in a professional or mature manner.
I do think it is heart breaking and head aching to look at.
IT has been a hell of a meeting this month for all directors and I strongly dislike the resulting actions and resignations.
I do believe all directors cared , to what degree I don't know.
I have to say my time with the guild is coming to an end soon, and I do not think catastrophic harm will come from opening the directors forum.
It may slow some of the process down even more, but this BIG SECRET FORUM nonsense is just that.
To the directors that did resign, I appologize, as well as to the members.December was the month to handle elections and awards and all we have done is imploded.
This guild was created by good hearted people to help promote our artform, not as a power trip platform or a self serving one.
Bill Plant would be disapointed to say the least.

Jen

What everyone seems to forget this is a Group of volunteers, not a Fortune 500 business. Everyone of the Directors pays their dues the same as the members. We all volunteered our extra time to help use the vehicle of a Guild to make aware and promote this Art Form. This has been one of the main Goals of the Guild.

As a member....

I find it very sad and disheartening to read all of this.
I can now understand why some people carve in their own "bubble" and don't bother getting involved in the carving community......at least online.
All these accusations and anger....

How depressing

thanks for the post Jen .

and I can here Bill Plants now.

I wasnt going to post anything on this subject because when I post it seems people dont read the words, and have tendency to add there own so I will try to make it clear.

I respect all the people that droped out as BOD's but I feel you will not accomplish what you set out to do by dropping out .

you have only crippled the guild and slowed the progress even more.

new directors need to be found so process can be made .....untill then we have no oporational Guild.

Sometimes it is hard to get along and agree and if wrong things have been done then make the write steps and undo them.

get it out in the open and fix it .

I for one care what happens to the guild and I know you do also

thanks Jen for your words

The whole month I have been hearing Bill Plants words in the back of my head...don't sweat the small stuff, and it is all small stuff. That was one of my main reasons for not leaving sooner. Sadly when one person tries to run an organization, they get over worked and don't do the job they set out to do. I can vouch for everyone, the ones still there and the ones that left...they all wanted the guild to be a strong voice for carvers. I hope that the partial board that is left, looks to the members to elect the rest of the board instead of trusting them to appoint positions. I have been involved with the guild for a lot of years and really enjoyed the time I spent with other directors. I enjoyed when we worked together as a group. Cindy
