A question was asked by Fred A. and one of the answers by Ken S was to grid the carving so you could expand it if you wanted and keep the porportions.
There are programs for scrollsawers and intarsia crafters that help you blow up or shrink drawings. But a very inexpensive way to graf a drawing is just using Microsoft word and Paint. These programs are already in your computer. (Mac users, im not sure how they work)
Bring up a new page in Microsoft word. In the tool bar across the top you'll be able to turn on the grid lines. (in 2003 version it's under tools if I remember right) I'm using 2007 version so it's under "View".
Take your paint progran and cut the picture you want to work with to size you want and paste it in the word doucument on top of the grids. with the space bar and enter button you can move it around so you have grid lines all around your picture.

Now if you have a program like Microsft Digital Image, Elements 5 or newer, or many of the other programs out there you can use the edge finder and cut the object out. Now just paste that object onto the word document with the grid lines turned on and you'll have a nice reference to enlarge or shrink your project.

Some HP printers come with a printing program that will allow you to print poster size drawing by printing a project over three pages wide and 3 pages up/down. There are some programs out there that I've used that can go even bigger.
So if your not in an area that has one of those fancy printing companies like Capt. Dave suggested, this might get you by in a pinch.
