I have a question for some of the older guys who are experts in the 70's and 80's. What was generally done with jerseys that have set tags.. Is it safe to assume that a set 1 jersey was worn for the 1st half of the season and set 2 jersey for the 2nd half? Or are most players given all their jerseys up front and then allowed to wear them as they see fit? I see alot of jerseys that are opposite set #'s of when a particular player joined or left a team. I am looking at a jersey for a player now that started the season with them team, and was released after 10 games.. and now a dealer has both set 1 and set 2 jerseys for this player and both show use. So of course these jerseys could have been re-used or sent down to the minors... In this case, the dealer is selling and advertising both of these jerseys worn by this player only... so I wanted to ask what was generally done with teams jerseys in the 70's and 80's.. I know it will vary team by team... but which way is the general idea of how jerseys are distributed and worn by the players?
I think you will find that the uniforms were not issued as "Set 1" in the first half and "Set 2" in the second have of the season..Rather part of the same order. It would not bother me in the least bit to have either shirt as long as everything else was correct.
