Today I picked up these four NBA warm-up outfits and was wondering if you guys can help me gather more information on them. I have posted pictures below (I hope there aren't too many) to give you a better idea of what they look like. I don't have any knowledge of uniform identification or dating but I've been reading a lot of your posts and a lot of you have tons of information that I find very helpful.
The Golden State Warriors and the Kansas City Kings both have 35th anniversay patches on them. I believe that the NBA celebrated the 35th anniversary in 1981 or 1982. I looked up the player, Gale, who is on the Warriors jacket and he played for them in 1982. The Portland Trailblazers has the number 00 on the pants and shirt. According the Portland Trailblazers website, the only two players to wear this number were Ken Johnson and Kevin Duckworth but that was mid to late 1980's. The Philadelphia shirt does not have a set of pants to go with it like the other three.
Any information you can provide me with, such as players who might have worn them, years they were used, are they legit and do they have any value would be greatly appreciated. Thanks for your time!
The Blazers warm up was worn by Kevin Duckworth, Sand Knit tags date his first year with Portland.
The KC Kings is a thing of BEAUTY! Beyond rare style! Worn by Sam Lacey!
The Sixers was last worn by #45 Clemon Johnson. Number 11 could be a non-roster player or Leo Rautins?
The Warriors was worn by former ABA star Mike Gale in 1982, his last year in the NBA.
In the 1980-81 and 1981-82 seasons, Number "30" for the Golden State Warriors was Bernard King. Does it appear there is another nameplate under the current one? Is is possible another name (KING) was heat-pressed to the reverse side of the "GALE" nameplate. Seems odd, but was common practice of the era. A Bernard King Golden State warm up is a valuable item. Seems likely to have been worn by BOTH players.
Thanks for all of the great information - I appreciate it! Let's see I can answer your questions:
The Golden State Warriors shirt has the Gale name place attached by velcro - I guess it would be easy to swap out name plates.
I got them out a garage sale.
Can others see the pictures - they appear on my PC?
I would be interesting in selling them although I might keep one (the KC Kings) but could be persuaded to sell that as well. If you are interested, email me at brettlowman@yahoo.com
I reexamined the Gale name plate on the back of the jersery. On the reverse side I can see stitching of a name "Davis." I know this doesn't help with the Bernard King issue but just thought I'd mention it.
