If you look at the top photo on my post on the Murray helmet, the decals on the back are consistant. There are several photos on Getty which show the ABC decal and the MLB decal on either side, but the placement of the number looks OK.
The only thing I can't find is the label with Thome's name on it. However Due to the placement, size, and color of the name label it would be very hard to find it in a Getty photo. The photos just aren't that close up.
Someone other than myself could give you better info about the markings inside the helmet.
I have handled a few of the Indians helmets from the 1990s and they all had the "Purchased from Indians" stamp on the back padding. I haven't seen any with both names and numbers. I have limited experience with Indians Helmets.
Thanks,
Chris Boyd

The wheel inside shows the helmet as being from 12/91. I have a little knowledge of the dating of 90's ABC helmets, but not as much as I should. I was able to find a couple of Getty images that showed Cleveland players with name and number on the back of the helmet, but can't find any good photos of the back of an actualy Thome helmet.
From what I can tell, Thome seems to be pretty consistent as far as the amount of use he puts to his helmets. There doesn't seem to be any tar on it, nor does it appear to be cracked, so it leads me to wonder why he would've stopped using it, if he used it at all. Could a "Warehouse" piece.
That was exactly my question on it. Being that this was an early helmet I guess the wear could be different. I simply have not handled enough Thome helmets to have a confident opinion.
Jason is right, I think, as all of the Thome helmets I've seen (either in photos, in games, or in person) have been covered in pine tar (right up there with Manny, AROD, and Biggio - tons of pine tar). Not sure on this one - - - - - just wanted to back up Jason's observation.
