Has anyone ever seen this jersey for sale?

This Orioles flannel has the patch commemorating the Sesquentennial of the Star Spangled Banner (written by a Baltimore native). It was only worn in 1964.

All of the 1964 Orioles jerseys I have seen on the market, including those in the Halper auction, had this patch removed.

I have never seen this jersey or even a patch for sale. As a matter of fact, I have never even seen a better picture of the patch than the one I at the bottom of this post.

Troy - can you check and see if you guys have ever authenticated a 1964 Orioles jersey with the patch attached?

I know a few collectors who only collect patches that have never seen this patch either.

Any help??

1964 O's Jerseys

June 20 2005, 5:02 PM

Owen,

I have seen two of these jerseys come to auction..both without the patches:

From my data base:

1964 Orioles Home Wilson Roberts size 46 North Shore Sports June 1996 Lot# 194
1964 Orioles Road Spalding Roberts size 46 Robert Edwards July 2000 Lot # 748

Cheers,

Dave,

Thanks for the info. I know the two 1964 Orioles jerseys in the halper collection did not have the patch either.

This might be the holy grail of flannels for me.

Patches

Owen,

I would agree..If you think about, there are many shirts that the style might have been worn for a number of years, yet that small portion of commemerative fabric affixed to sleeve can make all the difference.

Wish you the best of luck in finding a vintage patch..
