I've forgiven the Mets for the Bill Buckner deal and actually have some Mets stuff I am proud of. Included are a Benitez hat and jersey and a pricey Kaz Matsui jersey. And of course I have kept my Alfonzo authentic jersey.
Others may disagree, but there is little correlation between the marquee value of a player and his actual playing ability.
Case in point:Tsuyoshi Shinjo of Mets and Giants infamy. With his orange hair and movie star spouse, he was a celebrity, dogged by Japanese press. But he was of no use to the Giants and apparently to the Mets and he is back in Japan playing mediocre baseball and generating more publicity.
Tsujoshi Shinjo game-used jerseys are impossible to find and his collectibles have held their value incredibly high.
