Pedro vs. Kaz

If you had the money to spend, would you consider investing $6500 in a Pedro Martinez game-used Mets jersey or $2000 to a game-used Kaz Matsui jersey? And why?

You will not be graded on this exam.

$6500 for a Pedro jersey!?!?!

Wowzers.

I'd pass on both.

I'll have to agree with Rob on this one.
That's a bit insane.

$6500 for a jersey would have to be a world series gamer from star player who would have to be an MVP of that season or world series.

$6500 could be a down payment for a low to mid range house

How would you spend $6500?

I'll take the Accord with low miles and "ice cold" air...all reasonable offers considered. CLEAN!

Compared to Steiner prices $6500 for future hof'er Pedro and $2000 for a rare kaz jersey would be a steal, they are selling pavano jerseys for 4000 and andy phillips jerseys for 1500!!

What range would everyone say that 2005 pedro and kaz jerseys should be in?? I think kaz should be higher then $2000 and that 6500 is about right for pedro considering steiner got 30000 for a jeter jersey

Comparing Steiner prices on Yankees pieces to items from other teams is like comparing apples to oranges. Until Steiner struck up a deal with the Yankees, post-1996 Yankees shirts could not be sold publicly. As a result, the jerseys are quite scarce. Until now, hardcore Yankees collectors rarely had the opportunity to purchase Jeter gamers. The old law of supply and demand is driving the market on Yankees shirts right now.

A Pedro Mets jersey is a great piece, but not something that is worth anywhere near $6500. I cannot imagine a 2005 Pedro being worth more than $4000, but if you find the right buyer anything is possible. As for Kaz Matsui, his stuff has taken a severe swan dive the last few months. There was a time when $2000 for one of his jerseys would be been a decent buy, but at this moment, it's probably 25% too high (give or take). I sell to many people in Japan, and even the Japanese have soured on Kaz's stuff.

Please don't take my opinion as a knock on the Pedro or Matsui jerseys. They are neat items, just not anything you could ever compare to the Yankees material being sold by Steiner.
