I would like to provide some additional information on six of the Red Sox Game used jerseys listed on the current Vintage Authentics auction.
First the easy one,
Lot 86 Daivd Ortiz 2004 Jersey, the jersey pictured is by Majestic, if it was made in 2004 it is the only one that I have ever seen. This may have been an oversite by MEARS,but I read the Cert and it says 2004?

The next issue that I have is with the Jerseys with the World Series Patch removed.
Lot 31 Curt Schilling, Lot 83 Jason Varitek, Lot 92 Johnny Damon and Lot 118 Bill Mueller.
A dealer in the Boston area had these same jerseys earlier this year and offered to sell the Damon and Mueller to me, Damon $5,000 and Mueller $3,500. He also told me that he had the other two and a Cabrera, all away Jerseys and he was holding them because he thought they were sold.
The interesting thing was that they still had the World Series patches in place.
I inspected both jerseys and because I was buying other jerseys from him that day I only bought the Mueller at that time, but had him hold the Damon for me.
When I arrived home and inspected the Mueller jersey closer I discovered that the jersey had several threads continuing across the front of buttoned side of the jersey from the sewing of the RED SOX lettering. I called the dealer and told him about this and he agreed to refund me my money. He was very upset and told me that he was going to return all of the World Series jerseys to his source.

I understand that Mears could not have know this story and it is not about the certs. My question is who consigned these jerseys and what is there story on how they were obtained.

Why would anyone remove the World Series patch from a jersey that had it installed by the team? At the very least the Mueller was never even worn, but had been washed several times to give the apperance of light use.

My final question is about Lot 107, Manny Ramirez 2003 Game used Jersey. Enough is enough with these jerseys. I feel for the buyers on Ebay every week when one of these Jerseys is sold for $1,250 plus.

I see that the Ortiz Jersey Cert has been corrected, it is amazing that an "expert" could make such mistake and then proudly sign it.
I also made a mistake in my post, obviously the Mueller jersey had BOSTON lettered across the chest, not RED SOX.
The dealer in Boston who had the jerseys with the World Series patches still in place was Mike Nardone. On Ebay he is Dolphinboy
If Mike is the person who consigned these jerseys with Vintage, then I have several more questions.
I would love to know.
