I work with the B&E guys a lot and noticed their eBay account is suspended! I saw them at the National last week. I wonder if this settlement caused eBay to temporarily suspend them.

b+e Collectibles? Say It Ain'tSo

August 6 2005, 3:00 AM

I've dealt with B+E Collectibles for a while. I've purchased mostly game used articles. I've been referred to them and understood they're very reputable. I hope this is an isolated incident with a consignment-I HOPE. I guess that's why they've been off e-bay-I thought they were on vacation. I've been told by some bigshots at Signings Hotline to trust them and don't ask questions(about game used items and how they get them). The items are genuine. The signatures(Ali)again, hopefully ,is a differant item and matter. B+E collectibles in Thornwood is a favorite of mine but they're kind of mysterious for a business. They never leave feedback on e-bay. Anybody got anything else on them to make us feel better. As far as Grey Flannel goes I could care less about them after seeing them on Court TV.

Read the article closely

If you read it closely, it leads me to belive that the only frad was the lithos with the phony autographs. Ali's contention was that the other memoribilia was being auctioned without his consent.

So it stands to reason that just because a dealer was named in the suit does not mean that they were dealing in fraudulant items, it could very simply be that someone consigned items without Ali's permission.

I'm not defending anyone in this, just saying there is more than one issue in this story.

B&E & Gamewornm Items

August 6 2005, 10:11 AM

B&E has sold good items, but they have also sold items that were not gameworn. I just believe they do not investigate on the background of their jerseys. I have questioned 3 or 4 of them through ebay when they were selling jerseys on there.. I would ask specific questions and they would just e-mail back.. "we were told this was gameworn".. thats it..

Example.. Abe can verify this for me..B&E once had a NY Yankees game worn Gerald Williams on ebay.. I won the auction but found that Williams did not wear that # for the Yankees that season.. but it had Williams 93 tagging so it was at least a game issue. I called the Yankees to confirm that Williams did not wear that jersey # for the Yanks.. he had been called up twice that season and both times that # was being used by another player..so there would be no way Williams could have worn it. When I gave all this info to B&E their response was.."they believe it was game worn".. when I asked why and what proof did they have to back up that statement... I was ignored and never responded to.. I also called and no calls were returned. Based on that, I chose not to deal with them..

I think there is jujst alot of people who run to sell items based on other peoples word rather than doing the homework to see if all the things add up on a jersey.. So I can tell you that by watching their auctions.. they had some good stuff.. but not everything was good.

David.
