So how much is a Livan Hernandez game-used glove worth? Well, one fan seems to think an awful lot.
According to a report in the Washington Post, the fan who got his mitts on Hernandez's glove when the Nats pitcher tossed it into the stands in disgust after a poor outing on Aug. 5 is playing hardball in negotiations for its return.
Hernandez told the newspaper the fan has asked for a package that includes season tickets for 2006, playoff tickets for this year and $18,000.
"He can have it," Hernandez said. "He thinks it's my lucky glove, but I'm not superstitious."
Hernandez had offered an autographed jersey and a brand-new glove.
This is pretty stupid on account of both parties if you ask me, first, it's stupid that Livan threw the glove into the stands in the first place. Whatever a player may toss in there becomes fair game, just like a foul ball hit into the stands. The fan on the other hand is being irrational. To request the type of things the fan is, a package for season tickets, etc. is outrageous. Not to mention $18,000! Give me a break.
I think the $18K cash is a typo...I read the story in this mornings Washington Post, and I believe it stated that the VALUE of the tickets the "fan" wanted was $18,000 (must have been damned nice seats!) Had I caught the glove, I'd have tried to trade it for a set of Livan's game used jerseys (i ea home, road, bp).

I agree the fan is asking for a ton but here's something to consider. The fan might over value the glove because it was the first time they had received anything like it.
I still have the ticket stub of the first game I went to and while it's worth nothing it's a nice keepsake.
I think the glove and this fans one month salary for Hernandez one month salary. If it's reasonable for him to make big money why can't the fan it's all relative to someone with that kind of cash think about it before you bash me
This fan is nuts. He is the conductor of the crazy train. Livian said yesterday "keep the glove" and I think the case is closed.
What is the fan to do now with the glove? Put it on eBay where he will get $500 for it and Livian could simply buy it back?
Want to talk about being unreasonable in this case...geez. This guy doesn't look to be a memorabilia collector so maybe he doesn't have the creativity that we do. I would want a Robinson homer, a Wilkerson bat and maybe the chance to pinch run in a blow out situation. Nothing un reasonable.
