I've been reading this forum for the past several weeks. I have to say that a majority of the stuff I read on here nauseates me. I'm not a dealer, but I am a middle of the road collector.
There is a lot of useful information on here, but the lack of respect and piling on by some people makes me want to puke. Maybe it's just the typed word, but I don't think so.
There are so many people in this forum that are just itching to push the button and drop the biggest bomb on whatever nitpicking thing they can find. It reminds me of riding on the back of the bus in 7th grade and getting into it with the dorks that now work the nightshift at the 7/11 and still know more about Dungeons & Dragons than anybody in the hemishpere.
I really do believe that there are people that are out to learn about game used memorbilia and have a forum with other collectors without the know it all, I've got a bigger one than you type of mentality overwhelming the boards.
I'm sure I'll get a good slam on this one, but thats my 2-cents worth.
...I'm not going to slam on your post. To be honest, I am beginning to agree more and more with the passing of each of those posts. I'm all for sharing information, and I am one that has tons to learn from the posters on this board. I am soooooo greatful for a community like this to learn from, talk to, and buy/sell stuff. Thank you Eric.
But I would like to see more positive sharing of information. If something is totally bogus or misrepresented, I want to know. I think 99.9% of the guys are great at doing that. However, there are those posts that just come across as trying to pick a fight, without much proof to support or defeat the claims. Those we could do without.
I don't disagree. I think pointing out errors and helping out other collectors is great stuff. But some posters see an error in an auction or on a sales page and, instead of just pointing out the error, feel it is their duty in life to point out the error, try and smear the seller's name, run him out of business and have him sentenced to cracking rocks.
It's always best to treat others as you would like to be treated yourself. You will find that some (certainly not all) eBay and other sellers appreceate input on the items they are selling and accordingly correct mistakes.
You know it doesn't matter if it's Rocco or Sal or Mr. Bigglesworth, everytime I read one of these broad slams against this forum and its contributors, I can't help but think an employee at one of the auction houses or dealer/authetnicating services has just been severely ticked off for being called on something here and since they don't have anything factual to actually counter a charge, they just vent with a venom-spewing post under some anonymous moniker. (How powerless and impotent do you think they feel to do something so pathetic?)
That not only tells me how well this site is working, it also brings a smile to my face.
Well Mr. Bigglesworth ,perhaps collectors on this forum are sick and tired of being treated as if they were total idiots by some of these so called "authenticators" who churn out letters of authenticity on bogus items .It's not as if collectors are paying $50 for these pieces. We're talking about hundreds and thousands of dollars. Perhaps the collectors on this forum are tired of the slipshod, lazy work habits of these authenticators and the lack of homework done by them, as well as their utter lack of professionalism. So yes, Mr. Bigglesworth the forum members might be just a little fed up and this may manifest itself in the bashing you've been reading. Also the fact that it appears to you that there is some sort of feeding frenzy going on here may have to do w/the fact that time and time again forum members are confronted w/yet another blatant example of bogus memorabilia being peddaled by these "authenticators". They've had enough.

I always try and say posative things, especially when I have bought a nice item, from a forum member and I have had some NICE expierences thanks to Marcus, Matt and Chris!. I think we have a GREAT thing going here, thanks to our moderator Eric, and I have certainly LEARNED a few things about my hobby of game used bats.
I also do want to KNOW if an auction item is bogus, in a respectfull manner, so I or anyone else that reads this forum can avoid a costy mistake.
