hi, this is my first visit to this website. dave stewart of the 80s-90s oakland a's was my favorite player and i recently acquired what i believe to be a game-used home jersey of his. it's signed by him and since i've gotten his autograph quite a few times i feel confident in it's authenticity. the jersey seems to have the proper letter/nameplate sewing and has the elephant patch on the left sleeve. there is a rawlings tag sewn on the inside of the front left part of the jersey with a tag with a green "T" and another tag with "set 1 1991". was wondering if anyone has any information or resources to suggest so that i can verify the authenticity of this jersey. the seller was selling it for a friend and didn't know too much about it except to say that his friend got it from an oakland a's auction and they told him it was a gamer. i didn't pay too much for the jersey so at the very least i got a nice signed jersey. thanks.

My only experience with a dave stewart jersey is a while back i bought a dave stewart coaches jersey with a letter from the blue jays saying it was from them. i consigned it along with the letter to a major auction house. in the paperwork i listed it as a dave stewart jersey with the year etc. the authenticator wrote a glowing letter for this jersey and listed it as "one of the finest examples of a Shannon Stewart jersey you can find" even though it was the wrong number and year for shannon stewart. Oh well. After many emails to the auction house, they changed the listing one day before the end of the auction and i think it got 1 or 2 bids.

I hope your experience with dave stewart goes better than mine.

i see that there is a lot of discussion as to the "authentication" process and that some of these companies are held in poor opinion in this forum. any recommendations as to whom i should send this jersey to in order to get it "authenticated"?

Maybe start by posting photos of the jersey, including the tagging. People might be able to take a cursory glance-- FOR FREE!!
