Exact specifications of 1960s wool flannel Cardinals jerseys...chain-stiched logo...Rawlings made...heavyweight felt numbers and NOB.
This jersey is not just small, it is a minature...measures to a size 26 or 28. Made for an infant or toddler. Could "LAVIN" be a coach or player's child? This is too SMALL to be a little league jersey!!
All thoughts, notions and opinions appreciated.
Within 24 hours of owning this jersey, I found this great photo on Corbis. Notice the tiny number "9",
just like the tiny "44" on my shirt.
I can find no "LAVIN" associated with the Cardinals. There is no way this is a retail item. "LAVIN" could be a first name? Does anyone have any knowledge of "Family-worn" jerseys. Yes, I did just invent a new term.
Great photo. My bet is that Lavin is a last name ... only because I've never heard of it as a first name and I know a couple of people who have it as a last name. I love the shirt, though the Ronald McDonald shirt was tops in my book.

Speaking of the McDonalds baseball uniforms, I heard the Royals were considering wearing them on Friday nights for the rest of the season. Just a rumor.

Is that common for when a player is released from Major League Baseball that they generally end up working at a place like a McDonalds?

Not ALL former players work at McDonald's. Kind of sad, but true, former pitcher John Urrea was working at a local Subway sandwich store a couple years back. He was a regular counter person there. I think John is still somewhere here in southern California. A friend saw him recently as he was around looking for employment.
