Opinions On Old Timer's Day Jerseys

Hey everyone-

I have seen a lot of old timer's day jerseys available through auction houses recently. I was wondering what people thought about these items? Do you consider these valuable at all (not monetarily, but literally the value in relation to other game used items)?

Do you consider it a viable substitute if you can't afford a gamer from the old timer's playing days, or is it just one for the scrap heap?

Eric

My opinion has always been that something like an old timer's jersey is similar to a BP jersey or a game issued piece. To me, it doesn't seem like an important piece historically, even if it's a big name player.

I wouldn't pay too much for something like that- a couple hundred bucks maybe? interesting question.

Related to this topic, how rare/valuable would a mid-1980's Hank Greenberg uniform from an old-timers game be ?

Thanks.
