I mentioned this hat briefly in prior posts. I just found all the original documentation which is great but with conflicting time frames by Dave Bushing, Dan Knoll and Troy Kinunen. Here is what I have for sale: An authentic game used cap of Mark McGwire and also autographed by him boldly on the top of the yellow bill. On May 1st 2004, this hat was sold through Robert Edward Auctions. The LOA from SCD states this as being an early 1990's game used and signed cap and signed by Bushing, Knoll and Kinunen. Later on in September of the same year, it was sold again and now another LOA from SCD states is is 1980's and signed by Bushing and Kinunen. Another LOA from PSA/DNA states it is 1980's vintage. The last LOA is from none other than Lou Lampson which states that it is 100% Authentic and that it is from the early 1980's.
My guess is that Dave Bushing, Dan Knoll. and Troy Kinunen simply made a mistake and the LOA meant to read 1980's (not early 1990's). I also guess that sometimes when they deal with so many items with different vintages, all the dates start to blend in their minds.
The price of this hat (which includes SCD's red numbered sticker under the bill next to the handwritten '25') is $500- including shipping. Hat shows a ton of use on the size 7 3/8 New Era sweatband. One of a kind item in this shape and perfect signature!!
