It actually went pretty well. The only thing I am disapointed in is the amount of time spent in regular ed is reduced. He was 82% for 1st grade and 2nd grade will only be 53% of the day. He will be getting 55 minutes a day in special ed for math and 55 minutes a day for writing which are his two weakest areas. Hopefully with that much time being spent will bring him up to grade level. That is what I just keep focusing on. He will also have 25 minutes a day spent reading. This is in addition to the reading and AR (which is a reading program) that he will be getting in the regular ed classroom. He will have an individual aide when ever he is outside of the special ed room and a classroom aide for when he is in there. He will have two aides one in the morning and one in the afternoon. We agreed to this if one of the aides was someone who had previously worked with Drake and the school agreed to it. The psychologist stated that it was a reasonable request. My response was put it in writing and they did. I have a copy of the paper so they can not change there minds or suddenly forget.
IEP times are so stressful I am glad it is over and I can relax for awhile.
