C56 Prices

I have been a long time collector of 1950's and 1960's hockey, but I'm just starting to work on a C56 set. I'm going to work on putting a set that averages PSA 4. I would consider a nice PSA 3, and I'll add the occasional 5, but my goal is PSA 4.

The pricing seems a little unpredictable to me right now since I haven't been tracking this stuff on eBay until recently. I'm just wondering what would be a fair price for a common in PSA 4?

How about some of the mid-priced stars such as:
LeSueur
Walsh
Pitre
Dunderdale
Patrick
Marshall
Etc...

Sometimes I see cards from this set listed with a Buy It Now price, but I still don't know what is a good deal or an average price. How about some of you collectors/dealers give me some insight into what I should expect to pay or what I should offer someone.
Also, are there any cards that always sell higher than expected due to scarcity or demand?

Any insight will be appreciated.
Thanks!

Earl

I'm working on a set in the same grades Earl. I have a spreadsheet with eBay pricing on my home computer and I'll post some prices when I get home on Wed.

The Ridpath and McNamara are more difficult commons. The Lesueur and Roberts HOFers don't seem to come up that often. Of course Ross, Taylor, the Patricks, and Lalonde cost a bunch.

Early in the year there were a lot of c56s on eBay - it's slowed down recently and I don't know why.

I wish I could tell you, Earl. I'm having a hard enough time trying to come up with prices for the four 4's I told you I have. I'll try to get back with you sooner rather than later, but I've been a bit sidetracked today by work and family and all those other factors that cut into my geek time.

Hey Earl - finally took a look at my spreadsheet on c56s sales on eBay this year.

There have not been a lot of 4s sold this year - frankly there are more high and low grade cards but 3s and 4s just aren’t seen that often. Here are some prices on the cards you asked about:

LeSueur - a tough one - a PSA4 went for $390 on 4/9/06 and for $338.53 on 7/17/06
Walsh - no 4’s have sold on eBay this year. a 3 went for $143.50 on 1/27/06 and for $97.00 on 2/21/06
Pitre - a 4 went for $179.26 on 7/4/06
Dunderdale - no 3s or 4s have sold on Ebay this year
Patrick - a PSA4 Frank P. went for $394.99 on 6/22/06. Two Lesters have sold in PSA4 - $600 on 5/16/06 and $504 on 6/22/06
Marshall - no 4s this year in either number

Hope this helps and good luck on your set. I'll let you know if I see any that I already have and I hope you'll do the same.

Mark,

Thanks for the price info on the C56 set. I'll keep those prices in mind when I am looking in the future.

What do you guys think is a fair price to pay for a PSA 6 Pud Glass C56?

Thanks,
Andrew
