Rookie card Designation--???

First off I want to say--hope all those who went to the show had a good time and found some things to cross of those want lists.

OK a
1951-52 Parkhurst # 52 Barilko/McNeil IA
aka The Goal ---
vs
1957-58 Parkhurst #M21 Len Broderick IA

The Broderick has a rookie card designation but is also an IN ACTION card.
Both cards have text with players name profiled on the card.
Scans aval if needed of front and back.

Why does this 1957-58 Parkie issue warrant a RC designation and the 1951-52 Barilko not?

I did bring this to "the powers that be"-- to "persuade" change--intnetions was to get the 51-52 get the desingation.Their response was to "pull" the designation" from the Broderick card.
What are your opinons on this and should the designation get pulled on this issue or should one be placed on the 1951-52?

Let me follow it up this way--what if your card HAD a rookie designation and was removed--what would you think then?
Would rather see a RC designation added or removed on a card?
The powers that be has the call to put a rookie designation--Any thoughts---
Ron

NOTE:
The Brodercik card in question BUT talking generally here--also

Rookie Card

December 2 2006, 11:00 PM

The Len Broderick is strange--He actually is pictured on #21 and #23 from that 1957 Parkhurst set, but they chose #21 to be his rookie. (Jacques Plante is on 3 action cards from 1954 Parkhurst, but they are not his rookie.)

Len Broderick wasn't shown on any other cards for the rest of his career.

Bill Barilko is in a similar situation. Since his career ended, the Winning Goal card should be his rookie. I have always heard that a rookie card has to have stats on the back or front. But the Broderick card wouldn't qualify. I guess an exception should be made for players who don't have another card to call their rookie.

I think a lot of people consider the Winning Goal to be the Barilko rookie, so regardless of the Beckett designation, it is a very popular card. Beckett has made a lot of other mistakes too, but they are like PSA, they don't wnat to admit that!

How many Barilko cards are there out there? Does anyone have a list of Barilko issues.

Thanks Elmar,
Not too many things were made with Barilko on them. Oh, there is one that was missed although its not a card is the 1949-50 World Wide Gum, Oh Boy, NHL Ice Stars - #44 Gum Wrapper.
