Heres a hypothetical questions for us all: If we won a large amount of money, say like $10-15 million and decided its time to go wild and get all the cards and sets I wanted...Would you just go full out and buy the #1 ranked complete set of your most wanted year OR would you just take a lot of extra time and build your set card by card? I think I would go card by card, Its just part of why I love collecting, Just the thrill of actually finishing off a full set, the anticipation and everything that goes with it.
I have thought about this many times. If I won a hugh lottery, I would make arrangements to travel to see a few dealers and hand pick the cards that I wanted. If I had the chance to pick up a full set of something, I might do it, but I agree that it's very rewarding to buy each card and see those cards arrive in the mail.
I would go see the guy in charge of BMW Sportscards and buy that mint Vezina rookie that he is selling. I would also go see Gerry and Harvey, and anyone from this board who has some stuff to sell. Depending on whether or not I was coming up on any big shows, I would go to one of them!
It's a sweet dream to imagine what I would buy with that money!
Ya, with that kind of money you probably could buy the finest completed sport card sets within a short period of time with the right connections, but what is left to do after that. One at a time for sure.
