New Guy

Hi everybody - have been nosing around for a bit, someone over on the Beckett boards (redwngfan, I think, something like that (site is down now)) let me know about this site, so thought I'd join up. I joined the Beckett boards about 6 months ago but have sort of lost interest, I am more into the vintage and don't fine my interests represented very well there. Tried the "Vintage Board" but aside from the odd thread it seems to be geared more towards baseball.

Anyway, as the name implies the main focus of my collection is Orr but I do have a few other Bruins kicking around. I've recently decided to re-focus on the vintage, I started chasing some recent stuff but have realized that it's a suckers game, for the amount I have been spending on "new" stuff I could be building up (actually back up as I sold off a few vintage pieces) a nice vintage collection. The only exception is Bergeron, I am keeping a small collection of his RCs but for everything else it's "out with the new, in with the old".

A sub-set of my collection and one I've been adding to recently is the Kraut line; would be interested in hearing from anyone else who collects these guys. By way of introduction here are some recent pick-ups (hope it works, not sure if I have to be a member for a certain amount of time or not). Hope to get to know everyone and look forward to some vintage talk (for a change).

Welcome

Al,

Glad you found your way over here. Go Bruins!!! I still think they have the top 2 defensemen of all time (Orr and Shore). Your photo reminds me of the transition from players not having anything designation (number or name) on their jersey to number only, then finally to number and name (?70's). I suppose it used to make sense, as all you really needed to know was who was on your team so that you're not passing the puck quickly and blindly to an opponent. Welcome.

Not sure how to quote a prior post, maybe can't do that here ? Anyway, thanks for the welcome. As for the Bruins having the top two defencemen, couldn't agree more; except I would add Bourque and make it the top three (with apologies to Doug Harvey). I have another great Bruin defeceman on the way, will post it when it arrives.

Good point about the jersey numbers/names. All my Kraut items have them pictured with the big numbers on the front and the "B" on the arms. Made me think of an exception though, but it is a manufactured one - I recently picked up these great cards on the 'bay, they were produced for "Kollectorfest", an event held in Kitchener in the mid-90s. These are unique in that they are probably the only colored versions of these fellas and they had to airbrush the "B" off of the arms for legal reasons. Was very happy to pick these up for a steal, considering that Dumart, with the exception of the ITG scrapbook autos (which I also have) is tough to find. Bauer - IMPOSSIBLE !

Very nice Orrs ! Only a member fo a couple of hours and already emasculated. I had that All-Star in a blazing PSA8 and actually moved it; I have never forgiven myself. Here is my 67:

Some absolutely amazing stuff on that site. Does he ever part with any of it or is it just a place to show his PC ?

To help fund his project he just had it auctioned off in CLASSIC's last auction--kept some but a majority of it went on the block
