The seller doesn't ever use the word reprint in the description. The closest he ever comes is the RP in the description. That would certainly be grounds for a refund on the grounds of "Item not as described."
I have a very nice Gretzky reprint that I was given for free. I would be happy to sell it for that price, but not if I had to mislead my bidders.
how about the bobby orr rookie reprint that sellers rough up to make them look a little off grade-so they look old and then sell it for hundreds.there are many stupid buyers out there.whats even more stupid is that ebay allows the reprints to be listed every year.what is the saddest part is when the buyer finds out he got burned he never gets back into the hobby.ebay has got to ban reprints entirely,they are bad-bad-bad for the hobby.wasted words here anyways as ebay does not care anyways!!!!!
I noticed the RP in the title, but it's a long title and it would be easy to see the gallery pic and glance at the title without studying it in detail. I agree that bidders have to be careful, but they shouldn't be forced to study a description to see if the seller "implied" that it was a reprint. It's entirely possible that a buyer may not know that RP stands for reprint. The seller calls it a "rare print," so it would be possible to assume that RP stood for that.
Another thing--The seller listed the card under "Rookies--Pre 1980." If you are searching for cards under that category, you expect to find cards that were printed prior to 1980. That was also done to intentionally mislead the bidders. If eBay wants to allow reprints of cards to be sold, then they should have listing rules, or better yet, add a new category for "Reprints."
I agree Earl that reprints should be a seperate listing! And good point about RP being rare print. I am just so tired of seeing reprints being sold and now with eBays "bidder id" I can't even warn people like I used to. I don't know what its going to take for ebay to change the way they handel reprints, They are the ones who have to pay the fees when people ask for refunds, They are only loosing more money but whats a few thousand from the billions they make.
