hi everybody
i need your help for pricing a gretzky card. The card is a gretzky rookie opc 1979 80 graded 9 OC by PSA. I see a couple of time gretzky rookie opc graded 9 on ebay sold around 5000 $ usd. How much in value a gretzky OC psa 9 can loose. How much is the value of this card. I want your opinion thanks.

850 $ is verry low for a card like this, psa have graded only 36 gretzky graded 9...for the OC it is the gretzky ...
For my part i prefer a psa9 OC than a psa 8 ... psa 8 is verry comon but psa 9 is much tough to find. but thanks for your opinion.

this is just a guess but you might want to talk to a dealer who carries a lot of inventory in baseball cards and ask him what type of a discount a OC goes for as compared to the regular card. he may have some OC cards in his inventory and can gauge this. signed Greg
good, i have use this trick. i have look on the gerry sports cards inventories and for example a psa 9 of roy rookie the price is around 400 and the price of the psa9 OC roy rookie is around 200. For OC the half of the price. But my post is for test the opinion of the collector...
The card really isn't badly off centered. I might resubmit it to PSA. Even though the centering isn't bad, the OC really does lower the value. From my experience, collectors avoid the OC qualifier. They don't sell well on eBay either.
I recently sold a 1962 Topps Glenn Hall PSA 9 O/C. I think I paid about $70-$75 a few years ago for it. The corners were very impressive for a card that old, but it sold for less than $70!
The Gretzky is certainly an easy card to find, so I would prefer having it in PSA 8 myself. It would likley sell for more that way. Good luck.
Thanks for posting the scan. I do think if the card was resubmitted asking for No Qualifiers it would pull a PSA 7 or an SGC 86. Given that fact, to me the card is probably still worth in the $500 to $700 range. I would guess that most people would rather have a well centered 8 with slight corner wear than a 9 OC.
A PSA 9 with OC qualifier is like a PSA 7. So for $850, I wouldn't say you're getting a deal. Most collectors want a copy that is NOT off-centered so a card like that isn't really high in demand.
