I have the opportunity to buy this card for 60.00, plus 3.00 shipping. What do you folks think? Good deal, fair deal, or no deal? Should I counteroffer?

eBay item #260088790960

David:

Here's the link:

It's got a lot of things going for it: (1) decent centering (corner wear looks like the only issue), (2) great Maroons jersey, (3) I'm partial to oldtime goalies, so a nice pic of Beveridge, (4) underrated set. If you like it and can afford it, then go for it. For me, when I think about some item over and over, I already know that I want it. It's just a matter of coming up with the money to get it. Good luck.

In the last year PSA3 commons have gone for $25 to $35 on eBay auctions. Goalies generally get a premium. I've tracked graded V304Es for the last year and a Beveridge has not been sold on eBay that I've seen. A PSA3 Apps sold for $36 2/19/06 (I should have bought it).

I guess I think $70 is a bit high but the card has not been available on eBay in the last year. Only 7 have been graded by PSA so it's not an easy to find card.

I've paid more for 2's on occasion in other issues. If you're collecting the set you may overpay a little for this one but you may not see another for quite some time....

Seller counteroffered with $60 and I went up to $56. I don't think I will go higher. I suspect this is a fair price, but no great deal.

pre war

i can not believe my eyes.if you need the card for a set or if you are a goalie collector or just like the card-buy it. pre war cards are tough,so what that the card is grade a 3-try finding one in better shape or in a higher grade for the same price. no chance. i say,if you need the card or like it,buy it! if you are buying to make money on it,pass on it. who knows buy the time you decide he might sell it anyways!!!

$60 is throw away money in this hobby. If you have to ask a question like this on something so inexpensive you don't have enough money to collect pre-war cards.

I understand the last 2 posts, but I guess I see it differently. I have actually spent tons of money I cards I REALLY want. Though most of my cards are in fairly bad condition, I actually have a fair number of pre-war cards. I distinguish betwen the cards I am passionate about and the ones I would "like" to have. For the former, I am willing to spend a lot, but for the latter, I want to feel I am getting a "good deal." The Beveridge card is one of the latter ones. Actually, this forum has helped me with my decision. I passed on the card, as it seems to be a tad overpriced. I don't think I will have any regrets-someday I'll probably add this card to my collection.
This forum is very informative for me, and I hope I can keep participating.
