I knew reading the posts from this great site would pay off.
I think there are a few guys who would like to get a hold of a JC Elsworth from Marine Drive in Vancouver is this correct?
He just resurfaced on ebay using vancouvercollector1 as his user id
He just won my auction and has sent me an uncleared payment on paypal.
What should I do?
Jon
If he sent you an uncleared PayPal payment wait until it clears BEFORE shipping anything!! When it clears the money is yours.
Also, I would highly recommend shipping with a tracking number so that you can 100% make sure he gets the item and then he can not say he did not receive it. This will prevent a PayPal dispute.
I know he got me, Bobby and Lyle. His payment will probably clear but he will do a chargeback on you. Be very careful and thanks for the heads up. Jim.
Hey Jon, I just sent you an email about this imbesol. The money may clear but you will get a "item not received" claimed by him GUARANTED. Ask Jim or Bobby.
Be warned all, This rotten, low class, gutless, white collar crime looser(did I miss anything) will not slow down until the cops show up at his front door. Man, I wish he lived somewhere in Toronto or in this province (Ontario) it would be worth the trip.
Jon as per my email to you, I would contact ebay about his past behavoir and you have my full support if needed to prove his fraudulent conduct.
HI JON
I Would not sell to him he got me for 3 1985 opc packs all gai 9.5 (lemuiex rc) paypal payment cleared and within 8 days it was cancled
good luck
jeff
Can someone explain how paypal can opperate in such a manner as to let someone pay for something then receive their goods, then turnaround and cancel payment leaving the seller with no cards and no money?
What world am I living in?
Am I wrong does this happen?
Jon
I always thought that if you have a tracking number then Paypal will not give the buyer back their money since it shows that the goods were delivered. I don't know about everyone else here, but I always use delivery confirmation for every transaction.
A tracking number can't prove that a card was sent, Truth is you could send an empty box with a tracking number and it comes down to your word vs. theirs. Paypal does need to work on their buyer protection. I was part of a big Canadian case a few years back. I sold a 79-80 Topps set and saw the money sitting in my paypal account, 2 days later it was gone with no trace. I got a call from the RCMP and they found a hotel room with boxes and boxes that this guy baught and "paid" for with paypal off eBay. Turns out he made off with lots of cards but luckily mine as well as others were left because he knew he only had a certain amount of time. My set was returned in about a week from the RCMP.
Maybe saving your e-mails from the buyer and showing Paypal that the buyer wanted the item will be enough proof that it is a legit transaction. Either way,Paypal really needs to step up protection.
Tell him your paypal account was recently compromised and that you've had to inactivate it. You now accept only cash or certified bank drafts for the forseeable future. Apologise profusely for any inconvenience, and add "I hope you understand yada yada yada...."
Sorry Lyle, I missed your post. I think we have to find a few more people before the police would get involved. I did find another address for him when he was using a girls name on his paypal account and maybe a phone number. I will look for them again. I'm sure he's going to screw the people he is buying from now too, maybe I can contact them through their ebay auctions and get some more people involved. Jim.
I hope someone can prove me otherwise, but unless you can prove to the police that you lost money, and that the perps are in the same jurisdiction, I don't think any police force will express any interest in this problem.
Ebay must have some interest in limiting fraud on their website, but how to get recourse, I'm not so sure..
It's pretty bad that after atleast 12 years of ebay, people like this can still open up multiple id's and keep the same scam going. It's even worse that he can keep reopening paypal accounts. Jim.
How come eBay allows multiple accounts to be opened under the same credit card? There is no need for it. Recently I noticed a certain collector who used one of his id's to buy one of his other id's auctions! How can someone buy their own product....Does eBay not have some sort of detection to make sure the same credit card that is being used to list an auction isn't the same card being used to buy it?!
Hi,
please explain naru'd to me??
I took everyone's advice and did not send him his card.
He had tried to send an uncleared payment with paypal and I am glad I did not bite!
After a nasty email I sent him "I think I said that" I knew a few people who wanted his"boys in a jar"
he stopped emailing me.
I guess I am lucky compared to some who got burned...eh?
I sent him a colorful email as stated earlier in this post. He did respond 2 days later stating that I'am the 2nd person who has mistaken him for someone else and invited me out to his Marine Drive address. HA! HA!
I hope more sellers pick up on this 2 bit whore "What goes around comes around".
