I was wondering about the hockey documentary from CBC, Hockey: A People's History. I have never seen it and was wondering about your feedback on the show for those that have seen it. It was discussed in a previous thread a while back but there was no feedback. I would like to purchase the DVD through CBC or Ebay, but I wanted to know if it is worth it.
If it is worth it, does anyone in the states know of a retail chain that might carry it? Thanks.
It was a very informative docunentary well worth the purchase in my opinion. Hailing from Toronto, Ont. I found the segment covering the cup winning Maple Leafs of the 60's to be quite interesting. It was all about Tim Horton as "being the man". He was the leafs franchise player the team was build around since 53 and he had all the footage. I wish they would of touched more on the Leaf player's like Mahovlich, Keon,Kelly, Bower, etc. as they were all intrumental in those winnng years. But the scouting report on Horton never changed " Do not try to stick handle around him, you'll loose. Try to chip it by him, you might, just might have a chance.
I watched that series as well on the CBC, but IMO it was not as good as these.
These are so good, they should have this warning on them

Thanks for the info guys. I didn't even know about the Legends Of Hockey DVD. I hate the fact that we here in the states only have a fraction of what you guys up north have as far as hockey books and DVD's go. I don't mind ordering books and DVD's online, but I have had experience with scratced DVD's during shipping on multiple occasions. I will be going to the Chicago Sun Times show saturday (about 300-400 tables and 20 minutes from home), and I hope to pick up the vintage price guide everyone is talking about. This is a HUGE collectible show, but unfortunately it's geared more toward football and baseball and hockey is very limited. Mario Lemiuex is signing autographs Sunday and I would love to get some pics ,but I would rather go on saturday before the good stuff is gone.

Not to embellish on the Tim Horton phenomenea, but I remeber the interview with John Ferguson Sr. He stated "When I entered the leaque my mandate was to be the the toughst son of a bitch to ever lace the skates on, which I achieved wery quickly. The first time I dropped the gloves with Horton , he put me into a bear hug and I could not move a finger. That was the first time in my life that I had ever felt fear."
Horton was 5'10" and 180 lbs.
I own the "Legends" series and the" Peoples history" both are great but the interviews in the Legends series are priceless with amazing highlights of each players careers.The legends are a must own for any hockey fan
