I picked this card up off eBay about 6 months ago. I just couldn't resist and paid less than $40 for it. I loved the colors and detail on it. I've seen another example with a vertical advertisement on back. I think it was for a different product as well but can't remember for sure. The back of the card has an 1888 date but I don't even know if it's from that era. Based on simliar (baseball) 19th century cards the artwork and style looks correct to me. I also discovered that the A&P company was around well before 1888. Anyone have some additional info to share with me? Thanks.

Allen

BTW, the Kings are looking for their first 3 game winning streak tonight against the Stars. It's been a REALLY long year. =)

Hi! I don't own a Charlton, but I have a few listings from them at work. I won't be back in my office till 3/23, but I'm pretty sure this itwem is listed, and at well over 40. If noone answers you by 3/23, I'll have more info for you then. David

The picture of your card is in the Charlton. It is indeed 1888
It states that it was printed by Bufford Litho to promote A & P's Thea - Nectar tea.
It should measure 3 3/8 x 5 1/8 and be #'d 517
It appears it is the only hockey example in the series
Front should be colour with a yellow border and the reverse should be black and white.
It is valued at $75 in VG, $125 in EX and $250 in EX-NRMT

Thats all i've got, hope it helps.

Rob...
