the rangers won their 1st playoff game in 10 years last nite.
remember the patricks, the cooks, red dutton's "curse", camille henry and andy bathgate, hatfield/ratelle/gilbert, steve vickers, the infamous esposito vadnais/ ratelle park trade, the equally infamous rick middleton for ken hodge trade, "shoot the puck" barry beck, ron greshner and carol alt, ugly eddie johnstone, giacomin as a red wing ?????, ron duguay, i'm tried of typing.
chime in ranger's fans , i like this team ( alot ), i'm getting that stanley cup feeling!
funny, only 2 of the original 6 even made the playoff this year.
I'm a Red Wings fan and I have been hoping to see the Red Wings play an Original 6 Team in the Stanley Cup Finals for years. Red Wings vs. Rangers!! I'm with you Vinny!
As sports radio host Steve Somers says Rangers in 7! In 1994 the bars around MSG were about 20 deep,it was incredible. I know there is always a NY bias but for the good of the league they need a Ranger presence. Lets Go Rangers!
...most of them are over 30 and there is a saying: "someone has to take a puck out of our zone" - Thrashers have not a single star defenseman (maybe only Havelid at some point)
Rangers could be the surprise this year in the East

As far as Lundqvist perform, The Bleu Shirt may go deeper in these playoff. Remember that each year, some upset happens and it look they ll do it. I am not a NY fan but Since January, they were one of the best team in the NHL with effective defense and opportunism in offense, exactly what we have seen in the first 2 games. More to this, it was 2 huge road win. It s a great way to build confidence and momentum. If they stay healthy, anything is possible especially if they win the first round in 4-5 games.
Calgary is just laying low, letting Detroit take all those shots to wear them out for the next two games in Calgary. I may be delusional, but haven't lost hope yet.
Don H
It's amazing--every time I think that Hasek has retired, he comes back and puts up some of the best numbers in the league! As long as Hasek is at the top of his game, Detroit is a serious contender!
Hi,
The Blue Shirts certainly looks good in this first round and if they clinch the series in 4 games, that can be a huge factor in the second and third round. Because most players will have times to heal from minor injury while others teams still in tough battle. They have played outstanding Hockey since Late January and they seem to have perfect chemestry. On the other hand, i beleive some heads will fall in Atlanta after this debacle.
Just a short note to let Rangers fans that what is ahead wont be as easy as the last series. Buffalo is just getting a warm up with The Islanders. They have not played at their best but still win. That s something to accomplish in the playoffs and many teams cant afford to do..... (Just Ask Sydney today....)I would be ready to put some money on the table if they meet each other (NyR-Buf). If anyone is interested, just let me know. And from what we have seen from the playoff already, the team that will come out of the West Conference will probably win the Cup if Buffalo is not in the Final....But i think they ll be there..
If NYR we re looking contenders in the first round, they were certainly not as sharp in the first game of the second round against the Sabres...Will be a short series...in 6 or less...
cn, sunday's game was great but it won't mean anything if they don't win tonite. they have got to keep up their intensity and play "balls to the wall".
Buffalo was robbed AGAIN that puck was in. Black puck over red line means goal why waste time with video replay just put the old guy back behide the net with his red/green light like the old days. Showing it over and over just makes people very mad.
Unfortunately the Blue Shirts lost but as a die hard fan I love the direction the Franchise is going. Ottawa- Buffalo should be a great series. It would be nice to see Buffalo win a cup after almost 40 years. CN
James, I am sorry I wasn't more exact. I guess I should have said it would be nice to see BUFFALO finally win the cup after being in the league for 36 years.CN- This was not meant to offend any Buffalo fans I think their fans are great and they have a good team.

Rangers played good but I'm not sure about directions of the franchise.
Jagr, Straka, Nylander, and Shanahan were best Rangers' scorers: they scored 47% of all Rangers regular season goals and 58% of all their postseason goals. Those 4 are 143 years old and will be gone in a couple of years.
Blue Shirts have great goalie and good defense but I don't see who will score for them.
As i was saying a week ago, the Buffalo Sabres are going to the Semi-Finals. This is not a surprise but the Blue Shirts were not easy. Thanks to Lundqvist who did more than his share for his team. So if anyone is ready to put money on the table on the next 2 series: det-ana, buf-ott. My picks are Anaheim in 5 and Buffalo in 7. Wings will suffer on a defense partially destroy. Buffalo speed s and depth will overcome The Sens.
The Wings may not have looked pretty in game 1, but they won. They are still a veteran team, they have home ice advantage and they won game 1. That makes them the team to beat in this series.
I'm really surprised to see Ottawa win both games in Buffalo! The Sabres have an uphill battle in this series!
Like I said on my april 13 post the ducks are for real as I post this up right now there up 3-0 they will take the cup this year over ottawa in 6 games.
Frank, you should have added "I told you so, I told you so" to your "Like I said on my april 13 post".
I still think that Detroit played with 3 and half defensemen + 75 years old Chelios.
I still think it would be different series having Detroit Schneider and Kronwall (not to mention poor Fischer).
I still think that Detroit was better, speedier, more skilled team.
I still think that Ducks are too big, slow, and boring to watch.
I hope Senators will win (not sure about Emery though).
not only stupid penalty but also questionable.
Like someone said:
"But then, all of a sudden, with less than two minutes to play in a 1-0 game, Pavel Datsyuk suddenly saw referee Don Koharski throw up his arm after the kind of incidental contact that happens roughly a hundred times a game By strict interpretation, interference is the right call. But if that call is made consistently, the two sides will play three-on-three all night."
