Hi everyone, I am told these are 1963 OPC football wax. 36 packs apparently unopened.
Were these Topps or O-Pee-Chee?
Anyone have any idea of current selling price on this item?
This is a 1964 OPC Pack. Baseball Card Exchange has a 1964 Topps pack GAI 7 for $2750 currently. OPC Football is not quite as coveted as Topps. I would estimate $500-$700 depending on grade. That translates to $20,000-$25,000 for the box. You don't see 1964 packs too often. To me, they are the 2nd toughest 1960's football pack. If you're interested in selling it, I would contact Baseball Card Exchange, Mark Murphy and Dave and Adam's Card World. They are all reputable. Of course, they're going to buy it at 50-60% of what you would selling it yourself. If you really want to maximize the value and security for anyone buying it, send them for grading (PSA or GAI). My two cents. Good luck. Definitely a great unopened item.
20 to 25k for that box ?? Not even close. A 1963 box was sold last year for around $2,500.00.
I would not want to be the first person to bid on this box as from what I have heard, there are many more boxes coming down the pipe.
Dave and Adam's Card World lists a buy price of $7500 for a box of unopened 1964 Topps Football (depending on the series). If that's about 50% of sell price, that would be $15,000. Factor in that it's OPC instead of the more desirable Topps, I would estimate $10,000-$12,000 at least. I will look through my archives to see the cost of unopened 1960's football boxes recently. However, pre-1968 Football, pre-1968 Hockey, pre-1960 Baseball and pre-1960 Basketball are some of the toughest things to find, much less as a complete box.
I'm not sure what is going on with this stuff. I was sent this picture by a seller who claims that he is sitting on a "small mountain" of this wax so as mentioned before, be careful what you pay if you are one of the first buyers getting on board as the price will be certain go through the floor later on.
Regarding pricing, let's keep in mind that a mint set of this series guides for $300.00 so comparing the box price to NFL wax sales is not really an accurate baromter.
Hi, your comment about the influence of the set price is probably correct in this case but not necessarily true in general. If unopened wax is available in the same quantity (relative to the demand) then the wax corresponding to
the higher complete set price will sell for more. Unopened wax, however,
has a market all its own which often doesn't directly correspond to the value of the cards once opened.
As other people have mentioned unless there is a pickup truck load of this somewhere I think the hobby can absorb a few cases, certainly the prices will drop the short term but the long term potential will be still there.
Hi, I am told there are 40 boxes, this is probably the contents of a case.
In any case expect this number to be in the market place sometime soon and use the info to adjust your offer price should you be interested.
If anyone is interested in a box let me know and I can pass along the person's email address (BTW: I have no connection with the seller, he simply found my webpage and hence I cannot guarantee in any way the product he sells).

Ron. By announcing that there are 40 boxes about to hit the market, the price dropped to about $50 a pack at best. See 1954 Bowman football as an example. Over 1400 packs of Canadian football is a huge amount for the market to swallow. Jim.
Jim, I think the jig was up with the posts and pics of others above, see the "small mountain" comment. Your price estimate is right on I believe as it is in line with prices that one of the sellers is bantering about (about $1800 per box).
Cheers:)

There aren't enough unopened pack collectors to sustain high wax prices for more than a couple of boxes. They'd be given away for card value for sets before too long. 1971 OPC baseball pack prices have dropped by about 50% since Murphy started dribbling them out just one at a time a few years back. Cool find though.
