Why is this not a great deal?

Forgive me, but I could probably use some education on this one. There is a PSA 3 1933-34 OPC card (#23) on eBay at $399, Buy It Now. Seller has positive feedback. This would seem to me to be an excellent deal, though I don't personally collect his cards. So tell me, why hasn't it been bought? This same card went for a week at 449 without buyers. Can someone enlighten me?

OPC Morenz

I would have to agree with you that this card is a great deal at that price. So why hasn't anyone bought it? My guess is the grade.

A lot of people collect prewar cards in PSA 4 or 5. Some collect the higher grade cards when they can find them, and a few collect lower graded cards. (Due to the price and value.) eBay has been a little slow lately, and this Forum has been extremely slow, which might also be a factor. You can't beat a $2500 card for less than $400. If the card had gotten a PSA 4, it would have been sold by now, in my opinion. I think that there is a real jump between a 3 and a 4 in a lot of people's minds. Maybe I'm just over-analyzing, but that's my opinion.

it is a great deal

if i where you and i needed that card i would buy it. the canadian dollar is super strong right now and a solid vg card by psa for a pre war card is like buying a solid psa 6 to 7 for a 50's card. that card probably only has a light crease in it as most pre war cards do. also a psa 4 does not look much nicer than a psa 3. if i where you grab it before someone else does,it is the most expensive card in that set!!! just my opinion.

Email and ask for part of the selling price from the seller because the item is now solid. Haha

Congratulations! I never intended to buy the card, as I said in my initial entry. I am happy for you, and I do think you got a great deal. By the way, you're welcome! After all, I did call attention to a good deal.

Sorry

Donald,

Honestly, I was only kidding around. Actually, I am a smart ass, but I wasn't trying to make fun of you. I thought it was funny that you were talking up what a deal that Morenz was and someone bought it within 10 minutes or something.

It's not always easy to be sarcastic in print, since everyone will read it differently, but I wasn't trying to pick on you. Sorry for the misunderstanding.

For future reference, if I sound like I'm being a total ass, I'm probably just being sarcastic.

happy ending

I think this whole thing points out how cool this forum is. I was able to point out a great deal, and get feedback. Ultimately, someone benefitted by buying the card. If we can point out good deals to one another, I think that's great. I would love people to point out good Buy It Now deals on eBay when they arise. As for the auctions, I understand that's not to be in the public domain. This particular card had been on eBay for awhile, so no harm was done by pointing out the card.
