Thanks, Jim. Unfortunately, despite the stature and importance of Georges Vezina, his svelte portrait makes it rank not quite as high in aesthetic pleasure compared to his C55 and C57 cards.
Hey guys. The 50 emails I've received while I was out for a couple hours about the Vezina's made me realize that I didn't post that these do not belong to me. They belong to a private collector and are not for sale. If you liked those, take a look at these bananas.
No wonder Grandpa wasn't ever able to complete the set and get that free pair of skates. That guy had all the Corbeau's!
That scan is one of the most impressive things I have seen on this board. I didn't ever expect to see one of those and some collector has 5 of them! WOW!
That is THE MOST IMPRESSIVE thing I have ever seen in my entire life of collecting hockey!! I can't believe someone have a Bert Corbeau - let alone 5 OF THEM!!!
That is not fair!!!!!!!!!!!!! He has probably all 5 in existance!
I really hope he sells some of them as I AM VERY INTERESTED in one of them. I don't care what condition it is in either.
The Willima Patterson #25 Bert Corbeau was the card that was redeemd for the free pair of skates. I think that you sent the entire set in to get the skates and either the company held back the Bert Corbeu or it was "redeemd" meaning it had a hole puched into the card or stamped with the companies name on the back. To have this card in any consition - redeemd or not - is so rare only a few people have either seen the card or have the card.
Also, to make matters worse the card was short-printed to make it harder for people to complete the set because the company did not want to give everyone free skates threfore they had to limit it someway.
