I have no problem with that, the problem is that they will have to cut down more trees to print the money to pay for vintage cards. Prices just keep going up. Looks like we just can't win.

save trees from money

hey damir another great s.o.s. would be to cut costs on ebay by joining fees with paypal. if sellers use ebay why pay for using paypal too!!! this would save some trees. did you notice ebay has a 14% off final value fees sale this summer. shure there sales are lower than previous years. sellers are getting tired of paying double fees. s.o.s. to ebay-paypal.

The fees do suck, but it beats paying a 20% buyers premium and 15% seller premium to Mastro. I also have to pay tax to Mastro since I live in Illinois. I don't think it will ever be the way we want , but Ebay is probably our best choice right now. The Ebay and Paypal fees do not bother me when I'm selling lower priced items, but the higher priced item fees can be pretty annoying. I just hate the fact that you have to pay for just about every option that Ebay gives. Let's just hope that fees do not increase any time soon.

good opinion damir, i do agree with you on all your points. i quess its just the way it goes. another s.o.s. call from me would be to stop destroying some of hockey's treasured history, what i mean buy this is-with the new cards they insert cut jerseys, cut pads etc... from the vintage players wears. it is a shame to see a cut vezina, sawchuk, orr etc... on a modern card. i know it is for stronger sales for upper deck etc... but it bothers me to see such treasures destroyed and cut up for what? lets here some other members s.o.s. on the hobby!

Saving the Hobby

2 points:

(1) Many of this has been written about and said before. However, I will reiterate and underscore that to save the hobby, current and future generations have to care (i.e. give some damn) about the game. Most, if not all of us, started to collect vintage hockey because of watching the current teams and players, then wanting to know more about the great history of the sport. From the card company side, saving the hobby means having fewer sets with more attractive, informative and attainable base cards. From the sports conglomeration view, if not having homegrown players, then at least keeping the core intact for several years helps to build a following and thus interest in the sport. We all know how great the sport is, especially during the playoffs. However, the lack of translation to television has and will continue to limit its growth.

(2) Although it is tragic to cut up any game-used equipment, also know that the possibility of owning/touching/feeling even a small part of that is the most that many of us can hope for. I would love to own a Cy Denneny stick, Frank Foyston jersey or a Jacque Plante mask. However, that probably is not going to happen anytime soon. I would suppose that all of us are selfish in some way to want to own something. Otherwise, why not donate it to the Hall of Fame or some other entity where the masses can appreciate, enjoy and oggle them?
