I was wondering- in everyone's mind, what is the cutoff grade that you would consider for a coveted, outstanding pre-war card. I have noticed that there is a substantial premium on cards that are PSA 6 or better, and a huge gap in value between PSA 7s and 8s (as the latest Mile High Auction indicated).
There seems to be a similar gap between a PSA 5 and PSA 6 card. What are your feelings?
Depends on the issue. There are many pre war sets I would be happy to get a sample in any condition. Unless you've got tons of disposable income you will have a very small collection of pre war hockey if you require 7s and 8s. For myself I'm generally happy with 3s and 4s and would prefer quantity over quality. If you are after Dominions, Crescent Selkirks, V129s or many other early issues you won't be finding any 7s or 8s.
