1969 OPC Stamps

I bought this pair of 1969 OPC stamps on eBay a number of years ago. They are still attached with the tab. About a year ago I saw a few listed that had been graded. They were PSA 7 and were selling for $100-$150, which shocked me. I finally had this pair graded and got a PSA 9! Only 3 of this pair have been graded, according to PSA.
1--PSA 1-2
1--PSA 7
1--PSA 9

I have no idea what this might be worth and haven't found anyone who could give me any answers. Any vintage insert collectors out there have any info on these or have an educated guess?

Here is a scan:

Bobby's classic 'Vintage Hockey Collector Price Guide' lists a set at $2100. Your pair would not be a common with two HOFers but it wouldn't be the most valuable pair either. (I'd think that Esposito, Beliveau, Howe, Hull, Hall, Mikita and of course Orr would be better draws).

The trick since yours graded so well would be to sell to a Registry player and in the case of these stamps there is only 1 - Luke Brown - you should contact him as he doesn't have your example and I'm sure he would be interested.

2,100.00 For The set?

September 9 2007, 4:26 PM

I know I kept all my inserts as a kid from 68-69,69-70, 70-71 and 71-72 and all the Esso power player stickers. I will have to get Bobby's book. Does anyone know what the Orr hockey puck punch-out is currently going for?

Best

1968 Orr Puck Sticker

Here is mine. The scan isn't the best; it was my favorite item from the 68 set. Probably because no-one I knew had a 68 Orr that wasn't diamond cut.

Gary .. looks like a solid EX-MT card. As for value i'd say somewhere in the $75.00 + / - range depending on a variety of factors.

I just sold this one; not sure if I wouldn't have gotten more for it raw, hard to say, it's a pretty nice example.

Hockey Inserts

Thanks Joe. Most of the cards I've saved from childhood are pretty nice. The story of my childhood hockey, baseball, football and non-sports cards is kind of funny. When I left to go to college in the U.S. I hid my cards and recovered them all in 1991. Then I completed all my sets. I remember I was only missing about 35 from 69, and 70 hockey.

I'm surprised that 7 didn't go a little higher; it's not a great market right now.

All The Best
