You spin the wheel with KSA!
What ya gonna get today? 7 an 8?who knows?
I have seen some really bad stuff from KSA.
Although I know a guy who bought a ksa 8.5 OPC Gretzky rookie. It was so nice he sent it to PSA and it came back a 9 MINT!!!
I have personally seen a KSA 10 with a dinged corner!!!

What is the story with KSA? I heard they franchise their grading to some dealers - is that true? They pretty consistently overgrade by 2 grades if what's available on eBay is an indication.

Wow! I have never seen an Orr RC so badly miscut! You can even see some blue on the side! And the corners are nasty as well! If that's the kind of standards they use, then my SGC 6 would grade a KSA 10 GEM MINT!

KSA Grading

October 14 2007, 6:57 PM

Hi,

I have met the owner of this company when it first came onto the market many years ago. He was in town (Edmonton) at a local card shop that sponsored him. He is or was a grade school teacher and spent his nights grading cards. I guess the grade you get is directly dependant on how many assignments he had marked first?

I agree that it is a crapshoot what you get. You can get an undergraded card or a overgraded card. Usually the later! I also have seen some cards that would cross over to another holder easily and then you get the garbage.

I also have heard the rumors about the franchising but nothing to validate it? If he is doing this then maybe this is the reason for the hugh disperity on his grading?

Rob

Several years back I had these card graded by KSA.
These are part of my personal collection and I wanted to get them protected so I had them graded. I chose KSA simple because they were fairly inexpensive. The Canada dollar was not worth what it is today and I could also avoid customs fees. Since then I have learned more about grading and have used the services of PSA. I believe that these cards are overgraded when compared to cards graded by PSA and Beckett.
I believe that KSA has changed hands and they do have an offices in three locations. Before I submitted these cards I submitted cards to their west coast office and their main office in Ontario. The west coast cards were graded more strictly althoug I do not have these cards anymore. KSA was a good idea but they just didn't grade cards tough enough compared to the big three. If they had I think they would have become the main grader of hockey in North American, but that is up for debate. Now that the Canadian dollar is on par with the U.S. they may find business even slower.
