Game Worn Jerseys @ Meigray

I have been considering purchasing a game worn jersey for a while now. I was wondering if anyone here has had any experience buying from or at least has an educated opinion in regards to the jerseys that are available at either Meigray or NHLgameworn. It appears that all the jerseys are ID'd and they even have a POP report. It seems that you can pick up a decent jersey of a semi-star fairly reasonably. They are actually having a "Black Friday" sale until midnight tonight so any responses before that time would be greatly appreciated.
Please don't consider this as spam as I have no affiliation with either organization. This is just an area of the hobby that I have yet to venture into and would appreciate any guidance before doing so.

Thanks in advance..Rob..

Game Worn Jerseys

Hi Rob,

I am not a collector of Game Worn Jerseys but have purchased a few from MeiGray Group. Specifically 3 jerseys from the Heritage Classic (Outdoor game) here in Edmonton. Lambert, Conner, Bergeron! Anyways all jerseys from MeiGray come with a Certificate of Autenticity or provenant which is important when purchasing any game worn jersey as resale would be an issue.

Typically semi-star jersey values are determines by local markets. Star jerseys are another thing as they are highly collectable.

Probably some of the most collectable jerseys that I have seen are from the WHA years and from the defunct teams.

Anyways probably not much help but just to let you know that MeiGray is a reputable seller.

Regards,

Rob

Did you get anything from the Black Friday sale? Sorry this is a little late as it's after the sale but I'm sure they'll have a Christmas sale soon as well..

I've purchased a handful of jersey's from them. Other than buying directly from the actual teams, they're the only company/business whom you can have full faith in getting what you're paying for in my opinion. Their customer service has been outstanding in my experience.

You can pre-order jersey's which are on the backs of the players right now which is pretty cool.. You pay 25% now then the remaining when the jersey is in their hands and ready to be mailed to you. They go to the games where the jerseys will be worn for the very last time by the players and pretty well take them right off of their backs. It's cool to see your jersey on TV being worn by the player or live at a game. Before moving away from Edmonton I pre-ordered 2 Oilers jerseys and went to the games early to take pictures of the players wearing MY jersey's. I got a kick out of matching up marks and repairs etc. after getting the jersey's in the mail.

If you have any questions about any jersey your interested in they'll e-mail you back with a run down of how much wear the jersey has along with photo's if you request them..

This forum is pretty helpful: http://www.gamewornjerseys.com/ The president of the company is on their and is always happy to answer any questions you may have as well.

Most teams will have their own 'branding' to show that it's an authentic worn jersey.. this is poor photo but this shows what the Oilers do as well as the MeiGray tag with serial number. The Oilers 'tag' is really tough to make out as you need to look at it at a certain angle with the proper lighting due to them not wanting it stick out on TV etc.. it has Sparky's (equipment manager) signature and states what it is.. a Set 1, 2 or 3 jersey. Generaly Set-1 jersey's are worn through the pre-season through the end of December.. Set2's are during the middle of the season and Set-3's are worn at the end of the season and throughout the playoffs.

Here's a photo of a MeiGray LOA which is watermarked..

Here's the nice box which the jersey(s) will come in as well as the MeiGray folder that the LOA comes in..

If you have any questions I'll be happy to answer them if I can.. MeiGray should send me a gift certificate or something for this! lol

Rob and Garrett

Thanks for the indepth info. That is one sweet Ryan Smyth jersey.
I did not buy anything fron the black friday sale as it was just 25% off.
The NHLGAMEWORN.com website which I guess is affiliated with Meigray, had jerseys at
50% off. I almost bought a Nic Antropov 05/06 for $225 + shipping. At the last minute though I thought I would wait until their boxing day sale which if I remember last year was 50% off most everything. I think I'll hold out for a bigger name.

Thanks again for responding..

Have a great day...Rob..
