I don't follow 70's or 80's cards but that seems quite steep. I don't think that this set is as condition sensitive as earlier 80's sets. I think both prices are quite high. Jim.

Good idea Donald, Lol. Jim, the seller of the one claims its a 1/10, what do you think would be a fair price, $1500? I don't really follow these years either.

Roy PSA 10

November 29 2007, 4:34 PM

I would love to own a Roy PSA 10, but $2500 is a lot of money when a PSA 9 goes for $200! That leaves $2300 for quite a few other cards!

Compare the value--Patrick Roy RC PSA 10--$2500

Patrick Roy RC PSA 9--$200
Mark Messier RC PSA 9--$350
Ray Bourque RC PSA 9--$350
Mario Lemieux RC PSA 9--$325
Steve Yzerman RC PSA 9--$200
Wayne Gretzky RC PSA 8--$900
Brett Hull RC PSA 9--$75

This would give you 7 high grade hall of famers, and you would still have $100 left over! You could make the same comparison with cards from the 50's, 60's or pre war!

I know of people that were buying PSA 10's of 80's stars for very little a year or 2 ago. That was a good buy, but $2500 is a little high! The guy asking nearly 5K is really off base! I'm sure that eBay is hoping that he makes the sale!

Price of Roy 10's

November 30 2007, 2:15 PM

BGS 9.5 Roy's have been selling in the $850 range.

Steve Yzerman rookies which sell for similar value to Roy in a PSA 9 sell in the $1300 range for 10's.

$2500 seems high. I would guess, if you put the card on ebay with an opening bid of $9.99 it could reach $1500.
