yep, that one is a fitting tale for april fools day.

the bidders are fools or like jim said-hidden user names my be bumping the auction up.

i really hate the hidden user names that kicked in but hey we dont know who bids on mastro-lelands-classic etc......... auctions too!

i wouldnt be surprised if they hide the winners user name on ebay soon and only the winner and seller will know.

ebay is really changing a lot lately!!!

"Junk" is such a strong word. I'm a "half-full" type of guy today. It's been trimmed, stapled and has stains. However, I don't see any creases! Plus, how many cards do you have that you can say "they have the staple holes pre-made"? What convenience!

more deals...

Don't be too upset if you missed out on this auction, as this seller is now offering 2 lots of "1963-64 Parkhurst" cards. Sure look like 1994 Parkhurst Tall Boys to me. I have to say that I am sick of this type of listing-they are WAY too common on eBay.

Tops dollars for Junk is a humble statement...

May 23 2008, 2:48 AM

You Just cant beleive what you can see sometimes and that auction was something....As for the other comment, i dont think a bit that this is due to Ebay policy of hidding users names partially on bids that goes on during the auction. It is just that some people are somewhat fool or ignorant. Just look of what happen in the past 8 years in the US and you will realise that there is more Ignorant than ever on this planet. Not just them but still.. If the value is in the eye of the beholder, it s not hard to see that some are totally blind......

Junk for Top $$

May 23 2008, 8:47 AM

Yeah, I had a deal with several other collectors that we wouldn't bid against each other and bump the prices up. If I found an item I might have been interested in and any of the guys that I had this deal with were already the listed bidder then I would pass on that item. Now we can't do that and I'm sure that E-bay thought about that. When I was first registered on E-bay a lot of users used their e-mail address as their ID and I'm sure that's why E-bay stopped that as a lot of users were making trades away from E-bay and of course E-bay didn't make any money from that. I used to make an awful lot more trades than I do now because of that change. For sure there is often no rhyme nor reason for the bidding schemes on E-bay items. I've found that quite often a couple of guys get carried away with their macho instincts and refuse to be outbid. I can just imagine the seller wishing that he had a whole case of that item. But it can go the other way, also. There have been many many times that I was astounded at the price for which I won items. A couple of months ago I won the 97/98 SP Authentic Icons D/C card of Martin Brodeur for $5, a few years ago I won the 93/94 Stadium Club Members Only set in the album with the COA for $20. As far as the vintage stuff goes I've had some real surprises there, too, but it's a lot more competitive there. Everyone have a great day. GO WINGS!

Ignorance?

May 24 2008, 8:06 AM

The ego mind feeds itself on mostly negative energies and grows through the process of thinking.
Ignorance feeds the egocentric mind of the individual.
Societies are made of individuals.

The Wheel of Pain:

- Ignorance
- Perception
- Sensation
- Reaction

Weakening the ego will reduce ignorance and bring happiness to the individual.

America

"Just look of what happen in the past 8 years in the US and you will realise that there is more Ignorant than ever on this planet. Not just them but still.."

I think he's referring to the policies of Fuhrer Bush. If he means there's been nothing to be proud of in America during the last 8 years, he'd be right about that also. Waving a flag and a bible around just doesn't cut it these days. By the way, I'm an American. Love it or leave it? I'll be leaving it soon and going where food and gas prices are a fraction of the cost.

When the going gets tough the tough run away. Wait I think I have that wrong.

How about "Love It and Fight To Fix What's Wrong".

What s the point?

May 25 2008, 4:00 AM

Dont take that personnal Gary.It s just that an auction like that proove that the world keeps getting dumber in général.

Why the US? It s just a matter of realising what the world thinks about the Americans and their foreign policy especially. Not as individuals but as a country. A country that want to be the policeman of the world and install World Goverment wont obtain sympathie of the others. It s just an élement to create more enemies by doing so...That s one of the reason Ron Paul said he would bring back home a lot of troops from many countries. 8 years of failure with no reaction from the people inside the country... With all the new laws that reduce civil liberties.... people Just bow down to the new emperor and are scared to speak their mind anymore..

As for the 2000 Élection, they were stolen and non-constitutional. As simple as that. Do some research ( or if you re intested, i can provide you some links). Most People kind of knew that the country was stolen but did not bother..Back to buiseness.

8 years later, what s the result of all this non action by US citizen? ( because as Canadian, i cant do a lot to influence the Us policy or politics, and only US citizen can create some pressure to make things changes). The result is a war of agression base on lie and totally illegal from internatinal laws like the Geneva Covention (which US official seems to ignore).... and still no reaction from US citizens...You were told on Fox News( And OTHERS) that THERE IS some WMD and you ll be dead if you dont go to war... 8 years later, the price of the barrel, which was 27$ is Now at 135$ a all-time record high... And all Georgie s friends makes billions of dollars and dont care on how this is going to end...

Just a couple paragraph, as i could fill a full book of that. ( not to talk about the FED).

As i saw that auction, it s just showed me in another fashion why things are going this way. Dumb and dumber are on their way...By the way, the winner of this auction was Canadian like me so nothing to be enchanted with.....

Goldcatcher is right

May 25 2008, 9:28 AM

I am an American and I agree with Goldcatcher. Also, Ron Paul is a great American, but isn't electable due to the rigid mindset and general lack of vision of most Americans (the sheep) who apparently need a tyrant to lead them by the hand .

"8 years of failure with no reaction from the people inside the country... With all the new laws that reduce civil liberties.... people Just bow down to the new emperor and are scared to speak their mind anymore.."

These are very ignorant statements.

I'm an American. I didn't vote for Bush. I've been against the War/Invasion since the onset. Millions of Americans are against the policies of this administration.

Goldcatcher seems very naive to the ways of the world...

"As for the 2000 Élection, they were stolen and non-constitutional. As simple as that. Do some research ( or if you re intested, i can provide you some links). Most People kind of knew that the country was stolen but did not bother..Back to buiseness.'

This did go to the SUPREME COURT. I completely disagreed with the decision. What would you have recommended us ignorant americans do. Should we have
taken up arms and went to the streets. Maybe started a Revolution?

"8 years later, the price of the barrel, which was 27$ is Now at 135$ a all-time record high..."

Global Demand, Speculation in the Markets etc is why oil is at an all time high. You seriously aren't trying
to blame high oil prices on the US alone...

<This did go to the SUPREME COURT. I completely disagreed <with the decision.

No, that decision was bought and paid for by Bush lackeys who control the court.

<Global Demand, Speculation in the Markets etc is why oil <is at an all time high.

Wrong. Oil is at an all-time high because you have oil men in the White House at positions 1 and 2. They must believe that billions in profits deposited in their anonymous offshore accounts (revenue from diverted Iraqi oil and $5 a gallon gas) still isn't enough to secure the family fortunes for the next 100 years.

Big deep breath

Let's just stop the thread while it is still fairly nice. Everyone has and is free to express their opinions, but I think this could turn even uglier very quickly. Jim has done us all a favour by creating this page and we should return the favour by keeping it for "vintage hockey" only.

Let s put the white flag and keep quiet....

May 26 2008, 1:50 AM

I am sorry to have put a great subject as this auction to another step. ( not really sorry but ill have some ethic.) I just beleive that i ve to say what i know and what i think, even if i knew that some reactions would come out of such a strong comment. There is a lot of Great people on this forum and it s a awesome that it does exist. Ill keep my work on this matter ( the politics, world goverment and etc) on other sites. If some are intested, it will be my pleasure. I did not want to offend anybody but let s face it. Facts are facts. Have a nice day. Sarto
