I think it's fine that eBay lowers its listing fees every once and awhile to give sellers and incentive to list great items that they don't want to sell in a straight auction format, but the eBay special offer has sure spawned a lot of stupidity that otherwise wouldn't exist.
Practically, sellers won't waste $4.00 every week listing a high priced item at 200-250% above market price, but at 5 cents, sellers are living the dream of the ignorant deep pocketed buyer snapping up their card. This used to be reserved for the eBay stores pages, where it was quite easy to ignore ridiculous prices.
It also seems to me that there are more and more guys with no interest in selling their cards using eBay as their personal photobucket page.
All that said, I have bought a few great cards through this BIN frenzy, so it does occasionally pay off.
i feel it is a win win situation for me.
i get to list my hockey stuff at a price where i wont get burned as i have noticed that ebay has been quite weak over the summer for selling,so it is very comfortable listing this way just to loose a nickle.
also you do score some good deals with "buy it now" here and there as more sellers list there stuff on a special discount day.it is also a good time to fill out a set as there is more singles to choose from creating competition among sellers for lower overall ending prices.
as for the junk and over priced stuff,who cares!!! its still fun to have a look to see how some people have wishfull thinking but they do get the stupid buyer once in awhile.
but to be honest with you guys ebay constantly has and will always have over priced stuff and junk all the time!!!
