I have an opportunity to purchase a 1965-66 Topps complete set in mixed grade. I looked at every card about a year ago but I wasn't serious about it at the time so I don't remember specific details about it. I believe some cards were quite nice, some not so nice and some were tweeners. Probably a mix from G to Ex or VG overall. It also includes three autograph cards; the Big M, the Pocket Rocket and one other that I can't remember. I believe there is also an extra unmarked Mahovlich card. I wish I could remember how the SP's and money cards looked but I really can't.
I know that doesn't give you guys a lot of information but let's say the cards all balance out at VG. What would a reasonable price be? The set rarely comes up on ebay so I don't have that information to base an estimate on and Beckett books it at $2,700, for whatever that's worth. I'd be interested in your thoughts and opinions.
hi john
to be perfectly honest i would need more info about all the high end rookies, checklists and team cards.lets say that they are all vg and the checklists are marked. i would try and pay somewhere between 600 anad 700 .just my 2 cents worth.
Thanks, Dana. I'm going to have an opportunity to see the cards again later this week and I will absolutely take a close look at the Espo, Cheesy, Howe 600, checklists and team cards, not to mention the Hull, Beliveau, Mikita, Hall, Sawchuk, regular Howe, etc., etc.
I remember having some cards from this set as a child but it seems like sets or large lots are quite rare compared to other 1960's issues. Any idea why?
