Dana,

I have had pretty good success. I sent in 4 SGC to crossover and only one did not.
I ended up cracking the one that did not and then sent it in raw. THen it got the same grade as it was when it was in the SGC holder...

Hey Dana,

In the past, I have easily crossed over SGC to PSA. I haven't had a single card get rejected or sent back. Because I collect alot of odd sized cards(Maple Crispette, Wm Paterson, etc.) I actually prefer SGC holders. PSA holders for those cards have too much wiggle room and I have seen many high grade cards with heavy corner damage.

As I have heard a few times on this board, buy the card not the holder. If you think the card is good enough, then buy it. Worry about the holder later on.

SGC to PSA

I have also had good luck crossing cards from SGC to PSA. I had a number of SGC cards that I sent to PSA over the years. I always put a minimum grade on the submission form and I don't remember any being rejected. PSA seems to respect SGC grading as opposed to many of the other companies.

If you can buy a card you want in an SGC holder, I would do it.
As for buying the card, not the holder--Prices today are dictated by the holder. A vintage card in PSA 8 may be worth hundreds more than the same card graded PSA 7. I agree that it isn't always a smart move to spend a fortune for a card that happens to be graded 8.5 instead of just an 8, but the grade matters when you are considering reselling someday. If you aren't concerned with reselling, then buy raw cards. You will save a lot more money!
I just don't think that it's realistic to say that the holder/grade doesn't matter, which is what is implied when you say "Buy the card, not the holder." I don't particularly like seeing the hobby move in this direction, but I appreciate the peace of mind I get from knowing that my card hasn't been trimmed or retouched.

I have had nothing but success crossing over vintage cards from SGC to PSA. Modern cards have been a different story for me but with vintage I have never had a problem.
