4 commons,bummer !!
but i really like that wrapper as it is also a checklist !
the 4 cards if graded should get high grades !

To think of the possibilities... Rocket Richard, Jean Beliveau, Henri Richard rc, Frank Mahovlich rc, Jacques Plante

50 cards/4 card pack = 1 in 12.5 odds of any player. I would have been confident that at least 1 star or rookie would have been in the pack. Maybe the rumours are true about sp's...

As a pack collector it was painful to watch.
I had a hard time watching such a beautiful specimen opened.
Remember for every vintage card there was a vintage unopened pack.

Pack & Cards

Although there were no stars pulled the cards within were 9's, so all in all it was a good pull and left with a rare wrapper!! No regrets...!

The reward was well worth the risk and i actually enjoyed watching it.

A Henri Richard RC pull ~ would have made headlines!!!

Can't keep opening old packs, it was something we did and maybe won't do again, but you never know.

Set collecting

July 13 2009, 3:55 AM

Could you imagine pulling a Dryden rookie or checklist #111 from a 71 72 pack!I just finished my 71 72 set and of coarse checklist #111 was the last card I needed,it's very annoying when you have to pay such a high price for such a boring card.At least when you pay good money for a Dryden you get a cool looking card. A little off topic here but does anyone know why there are 2 Pete Stemstowski cards in the 70 71 set? I'm trying to put this set together and find it strange that OPC would issue two. Also was John Ferguson an after thought at the end of the set and is checklist 24 tougher than 132?

Re: Stemkowski ~ even though he's listed as a Ranger on his 1st series card, you'll note he's still wearing the Red Wings uniform, so i'd imagine OPC just wanted to show him in his correct Rangers jersey for his 2nd series issue.

Re: Ferguson ~ Habs talked Fergie out of retirement ~ so yes, it may have come down to the wire as to include him or not. Good move and excellent decision for Fergie and the Habs ~ as Montreal won the cup that year!!

Re: Checklist ~ generally all 1st series cards from 68-69 through 71-72 are 2x(if not more) tougher than 2nd series cards. Checklists may be boring, but they do command, and consistently get a premium ~ expect to pay more for #24

Bobby,

Just for the record, it has been great to watch your pack openings over the past couple of years. If I ever open anything older than 1977 opc, I'll be sure to keep everyone in the loop.

Question on the 1957-58 Parkhurst pack- what did the cards grade?

The cards were never graded, they are so nice just having them raw.
