Bogus Cards

Every now and again it would seem some bogus vintage cards seem to come up for auction and the funniest thing is that they are usually star players only.

One such group of cards of late are the La Patrie and not to be confused with the photos.

A while back a beat up Vezina came around, of course it was Vezina and being beat up puts that reverse psychology twist into your head making it seem more real, it was bogus.

Watch out for likes of this types very oddball cards, if they are undocumented for the most part, they probably never existed.

Reprints & Copies

May 14 2009, 7:36 AM

After this post, I had a few collectors contact me saying that they have come across a few things they have recently purchase to be reprints, copies or that famous phrase 2nd generation of old some cards & rare guides or schedules.

In a tough economy you tend to see more of these type of items surface, so make sure you read descriptions and or ask questions if you suspect something is too good to be true.

The 1951 Parkhurst cards are easy to tell the differnce between a real one and reprints, that is, once in hand.

By posting and sharing information we can help educate our friends and fellow collectors thus keeping our collecting community healthy and strong for many, many years to come.
