I'm trying to look around eBay, but the sub-categories in the Hockey listings aren't showing up. I like to look through the Pre-1960's cards first, then go to the 1960's-1970 category. Right now I can find any sub-categories at all. I hope that something is just temporarily messed up with the site. I looked under other sports too and they all seem to have the same issue.
Apparently, ebay has decided to lump all of the cards into one section for each sport. All hockey cards will be listed under hockey. Not a big deal if you are looking for a specific year but a huge deal if you are trying to find oddball type cards or just browse.
This is ridiculous! I always look through the cards listed from 1910 up through 1969. Now I'm supposed to look through each raw 1981 Topps Jarri Kurri rookie and every random Sidney Crosby insert just to see the few vintage cards that are mixed in. That honestly makes no sense and will likely result in fewer bids for many cards. That hurts eBay's bottom line.
I wonder if we can start an email campaign to see if it's possible to get this fixed?
On the same topic, check out the 1972 year. Some seller(s) is clogging up the site every day with a brand new retro 1972 set. Every day they are listing the set one card at a time, and they are filling pages and pages with this brand new card crap b-4 you can find a true 72 card or premium. This should not be allowed. It pissed me off ( and probably a lot others) and I stoped looking at this years site which can hurt sellers of potential buyers for the real 72 items.

There are several threads in the Community, Discussion boards, Catagory Specific Boards, Sportscards/Memorabilia & Fan shop for more info. I sure hate it if it stays like this. I hope it is a glitch but I doubt it. The better idea club is at it again!
I called eBay to ask what was going on. The CSR I spoke to looked through his announcements and didn't see anything about it. He wasn't even sure if it was a glitch or not, but he said that he would send a note to the technical service dept. to see if they can find any info about this issue.
I'm still hoping that this issue will be cleared up soon. It would be stupid of eBay to leave it this way.

Earl,
This makes me laugh! You cannot tell me that the customer rep knows nothing about this....he knows perfectly well that this has been done! I am sure they have been swamped with calls on this issue as it has been done in many catagories! If you read the discussion threads people are going crazy about this change and have called eBay just as you have. It is just a typical ploy to make the customer happy and alleviate the situation.
a suggestion to search the entire ebay website can be done by just typing in what you are looking for. Use brackets and + or - to clearly define, and cut down the unwanted items. When brackets are used, put a comma after each word. To search the 60s, use an asterisk "*" as follows; 1960 becomes 196*. Use the minus "-" sign to eliminate words that will come up if the surname is common.
If you are looking for Montreal Canadiens items for only the 60s and only Beliveau and the Rocket - type in (Beliveau, Richard, Rocket) -henri +196* +(Canadiens, Canadians, Habs). try your search a few times. If you get too many unwanted items, say "Little Richard", then add "-little" to your search.
This type of search eliminates the need to search for cards by category as we used to do in the past; ie, "cards for sale, hockey, montreal canadiens"
When you have finalized your search terms, change the "Sort by" : - to "Time newly listed", then complete the search. On the header page of the search, click "save this search" using whatever title fits the search terms and uncheck the "receive email" box unless you want to be advised every time a new item is added that fits your serch terms. You can always revise the search terms.
The next time that you open your ebay account, click "My Ebay" on the top line, open the "Saved Searches" box and click on your search.
I have done my searches like and it works well.
After you create these rules, you can then save
these different searches to use them when ever
you want in the future...
did you guys know that leaving your email exposed when asking a seller or member a question is a thing of the past now on ebay.
before when you asked a question you had an option to reveal your email so you can communicate directly with the seller and now ebay does not allow this anymore.
which means no more side deals and no direct communication with ebay sellers or buyers.
every question you ask now gets monitered by ebay.
i tested a question with another ebay friend, attached was my email to reply to,ebay blocked the email in the question and in brackets put (this email is against ebay policies).
what do you guys think of this?
in a way its good as there is no more side deals or auctions ending early because of a private offer.
the bad about this is how do you get a better scan of the item if you request one etc...?
Yes, I noticed that on a recent ebay deal....I wanted to send a check, vs using paypal...couldn't easily see how to contact seller to confirm his address, so ended up using paypal anyways...
I notice another search feature....type in year + PSA ie "1966+PSA" and that will get you all in that year...similiar to previous comments
pretty sure that international or usa buyers can leave a negative for any seller.
sellers can only leave a positive feedback, negatives are not allowed for buyers (what a joke)
