Sad Day

Decided to get a lot of my cards graded over the next couple of months, including my (I thought) was complete 33 Canadian Gum set. The first lot came back today and this was one of my better cards (I thought).

Can you get any more info on what was altered? I got them graded through a 3rd party, so I can't access the site. I was told that was the easiest way to get PSA in Canada. PSA #16310580

Thanks
Ron

you won't get any more info then you already have

...I would say that perhaps it had been touched up with a pen, but that would come back "re-coloured" not "altered".....perhaps take a close look under a black light and magnification?

Another example of why to buy them already certified, and why the seller hadn't gotten it certified (or perhaps had tried previously

PSA doesn't explain the reasons behind the reject aother than what is listed on their website.

N-5 Altered Stock - This term is used when the paper stock is altered in one or more of the following ways: Stretching and trimming, recoloring and restoring, trimming and recoloring, restoring an trimming, crease or wrinkle is pressed out, or gloss is enhanced.

A black light would be helpful to verify the color & gloss, and to see if it had been cleaned. The card does look legit. PSA may have rejected it because of the scuffing on the inside black framing. Or maybe, they thought that the crease had be pressed out. But it is anyone's guess. I would send it to SGC to see what they say.

I received back 3 boxes from PSA last week. 2 boxes had the wrong labels on every single card. And YES, they want me to pay for them all 47 to be re-graded.

This card has obvious recoloring on the shoulder. I just wanted an AUTH tag put on it, but I got back a Lalonde 1 label. I didn't even submit a Lalonde. The rest of the mis-labels atleast matched another card I submitted.

For the Joliat altered card, I wouldn't be surprise if it was because it's been pressed. Many people do that to partially cover creases or make them smaller.

For your lot of cards that came back from PSA, there is no doubt that they should take them back and reslab them at no cost. It's their mistake and they should also cover the shipping and insurance fee if you described them well on your form.

Mis-Label

PSA does make their share of mistakes. But they usually are good about fixing them at no extra cost. Your situation is unbelievable! They got an entire box of cards mis-labeled? I would call back and ask for a supervisor. They obviously messed up and didn't give you what you paid for.

I haven't ever had a problem like this, but I have had 1 card in a shipment that had an error. They always fixed it for free, and gave me a voucher for a free submission! They should be giving you a voucher for at least a few free gradings, and fixing all those cards for free. They should also pay for return shipping. If you have to, email Joe Orlando!

What I have found is that Customer Service reps are not created equal. If one isn't helping you, hang up and call back. Eventually you will get the right person who will help you, especially in a situation like this where they are clearly in the wrong.

Good Luck!

This is the second time in the past year that I have received a whole box(or 2) that were completely mis-labeled. I called 2 different times and got the same response. I am just going to take them to the Sun-Times show in Chicago and do it in person. Last time, they corrected everything without question.

If I was a dealer, and was going to resell them, I would be pretty upset with the error. Since they are for my personal collection, I really don't care. I am happy that I'm little closer to finishing my Maple Crispette and Canadian Gum sets in PSA 5 or higher.

Looks like the card is trimmed on the top edge.
