Response to Worst List EVER! |
| OK let's look at this guy's comments.
"They (Star Wars, 13th Warrior) are both ficticious and have and never will take place!!" Let's see, I looked on the page to see if it mentioned that the movie had to be about actual, real-life military campaigns. Couldn't find anything. If you don't think either of these two movies involved military conflict, fighting, battle, military hardware, battlefield strategy, etc., etc, then I suggest you watch both those films. They contain all of the above. Someone might be compelled to place Rollerball on a sports movie list and while I could argue that it doesn't belong due to the fact that it is a bad movie, I could not object to its inclusion based upon the fact that it is not a sports. It would still be considered a sports movie due to the fact that it involved, playing a game, scorekeeping, athletic prowess, gamesmanship, etc. Rollerball could be consideed a sports movie, Star Wars could be considered a war movie. Let's hear your arguments why they can't be. Also, most war movies are about completely fictitious events that took place during a war. Should Braveheart not be included in a list because it is almost all fictitious? About the only thing accurate about that movie is William Wallace's name.
Let's look at your next comment, "13th Warrior" ABOVE "Star Wars"? What, are you gay or something and have an Antonio Bandaras fetish?" You are right, people who don't like Star Wars are gay. But people who do are stupid! I'll bet you are one of those who believes Episode III was a great movie too.
And next, "you included "Cold Mountain" as one of the greatest Civil War movies" Well, one glance at the Academy will tell us that it garnered an oscar for "best supporting actress", and nominations for best actor, best cinematography, editing, score, etc. A glance at the box office shows that it made about $100 million. And a look at the IMDB rating shows a 7.4. I would call that a success with critics and audiences. Looks like you don't recognize a good movie when you see one. What's your favorite movie, "Dude, Where's My car", or how about "Harold & Kumar Go to White Castle"? Go smoke some more crack
Next, "By your rationale, "The Godfather" should be on this list because Michael Corlione comes home from the war in his uniform!" Does the Godfather contain military conflict, fighting, battle, military hardware, battlefield strategy. if not, then it would probably not be considered a war movie.
"I certainly hope you have a paying day job because your reviews are awful! Angry Movie Man OUT!" So, you are a critic of movie critics now? Let's hear what you have to say about "Dude, Where's My car" that makes it so good. And while your at it, let's hear your list of WWI movies. And don't think that naming a bunch of obscure war movies that no one has heard of makes you sound smart.
One thing I guess you need to remember is that movie watching is subjective, and what YOU like will probably be hated by someone else. These are just his lists of war movies he likes. Apparently you have a different list, but I'll bet he (and others) would call your list a piece of crap.
Non-complainer, OUT! |
