looking for old war movie

I'm trying to find an old movie (Title-I haven't the faintest-I never saw the title at the time) about WWII which I saw while living in Chicago about 1953-56. It likely was made just after the war or even during the war.

I have not seen it since in spite of checking local movie guides for the past 30-40 years, and trying numerous movie searches on line over the past few years.

The movie showed spectacular scenes air to ground combat fighting, likely in the Phillipines, I seem to remember that "Flying Tigers" was seen on the planes. (John Waynes Flying Tiger movie is not the one, however.)

Specifically, the plot involved many scenes of local children who were effective aiding and fighting along side the GI's.

I seem to remember an old time actor the likes of Wallace Beery Jr, being one of the cast, but all my movie searches with him haven't turned up the movie.

Any suggestios would be appreciated.
