You know, we used to have a really good vet here in our small town. In fact, when I first had my kitties look at, I took them to a vet hospital/clinic closed to where we lived in the city. After we got charge $500+ to have one fixed and 3 wormed, they puked up worms only a week afterward. My DH, a died in the wool city boy, just about freaked! At that point, I loaded up my kitties, drove them 40 miles to my hometown/country vet and long story short, had all of them wormed again and the remaining 2 fixed for just under a $100. I don't live in my same home town, but this town and the vet were very much like it and I was quite satisfied. Then about a year and a half ago, the old vet retired and sold out. The guy in there now seems alot more interested in getting as much out of your pocketbook as he can in addition to upselling you on alot of unnecessary test. I finally had to tell him, "look, I can't afford but the most basic medical care for me and DH, I sure can't afford the cadillac route on these cats! I need you to work with me and start with the basics first. Then if that doesn't work, we'll step it up a notch." Nevertheless, it sounds to me like the vet you were working with has a touch of the greedyitis, too. I'm really glad you found someone to take care of Pyes and so expeditiously. I know it's a load off your mind and probably alot of suffering off him. I'll definitely be thinking about you all and praying for his recovery. Let me know how he comes along. Fivecat.
