The meeting with the City Manager concerning pay has changed. It will be on July 25, 2005 at 7:00 am, not the 26th. Make sure everyone knows about the change.
The fire fighters have a union, and they get everything they want. We have the F.O.P., but we can't get any Anniston Officers to come to the meetings. The F.O.P. has so much to offer us. There is no excuse not to attend at least a few meetings a year. We heard the "I have church on Wednesday" We tried Tuesday nights for a while, and you still didn't come out. You also tried the "I'm working", but with the 12hr shifts that's out. There is no more excuses other than "I just don't give a shit" If that's the case, then don't bitch. Roy and Nick have worked hard for us on the pay thing, now it's your turn to support them and attend a meeting or two. Who knows, you might enjoy it. If you want change, then come to the meetings and make it happen.
The chief and I met with the city manager on 07/13/05. It was a positive meeting and I feel confident that we will be getting pay raises. The amount will not be determined until the city council approves any proposals submitted by the cty manager. That should happen the first week of August. In the meantime, the city manager and the mayor would like to meet with all police officers on July 26th at 7am in the municipal courtroom. This will be your last chance to add your two cents worth before any decisions are made.
I'm optimistic that we will get a pay raise. I expect everyone City wide will get a raise. Smart money says 2.5% and our insurance goes up AGAIN. I'll say the same thing I've said every time we've had a pay adjustment. Just put us at the step we've earned.
Regardless of the outcome, I thank the F.O.P., Nick, and Roy for their efforts.
Hey folks, we, The Lodge have a new caretaker, he is Jason Hill and Wife Laura. They are getting settled in. If you or some of your family goes to the lodge and you are asked for your membership card, please dont take offence, Jason is new and does not know every one. He works part time but Laura will be there most of the time. Bear with them, they will get to know you.
WE WILL BE SERVING HAMBURGER STEAKS, GRAVY, SALAD, AND VEG. I'M HOPING WE WILL NOT HAVE ENOUGH. OUR ATTENDANCE HAS BEEN LOW FOR THE PAST COUPLE OF MONTHS. APD OFFICERS NEED TO START SUPPORTING LODGE 4. ROY IS DOING A GREAT JOB AND HE NEEDS THE SUPPORT FROM FELLOW APD OFFICERS. LODGE 4 HAS A HISTORY OF SUPPORTING CALHOUN COUNTY LAW ENFORCEMENT REGARDLESS IF YOUR A MEMBER. ROY'S EFFORTS AT THE COUNCIL MEETING IS JUST ONE EXAMPLE. APD NEEDS TO HELP US HELP YOU. SUPPER AT 6 PM
Greetings from T'town lodge. I'm glad to see that everyone is STILL doing fine. Nick, Roy; you two keep it up and you'll be swiming in a PCB lake out in Central City. Seriously; you guys keep your heads up and change WILL come. I've made arrangements to make it to the next meeting. Until then take care.
Keep an eye on the events page, We're doing a Poker Run at the end of June...Come see me next time you're in town and I'll give you a flyer----------------------------------->NICK
I met with the city manager. He is committed to help us get a raise. How much? I don't know, the council will have a say in it also, but there is an effort being made, so keep the faith.
Nice job on the message board, as well as the website in general. Best of luck getting your "powers that be" to up your pay. We've been fighting an uphill battle in Gadsden forEVER. They'll "give" us benefits in lieu of raises then take the benefits back a couple of years later and STILL leave us high and dry. You guys are facing the same dilemma we are....retention. Every time either of our departments hires, trains and prepares young coppers who are driven to do a good job, they go somewhere else. Heck, even some of us "old guys" are looking elsewhere.
Again, good work on the site and best of luck in your raise endeavors! Be safe! ---137
Thanks to all the officers who attended the Anniston City council meeting on 5/24. I think your presence will go a long way in helping to convince the council to raise our pay. Thanks to Nick Bowles, Wayne Willis, Steve Thomas and Ed Akers for helping to compile all the info and stats. A special thanks to Chief Dryden who has been working behind the scenes for several weeks to convince the city leaders that we deserve better pay. He supported the lodge 100%. Roy N
Hi...I thought this would be a great way for us to communicate with each other between meetings.
I'm also going to post over on the B'ham site, so we may have other traffic as well.
Don't be shy...jump in and post...of course no one will know of the specifics of this site until the next meeting and then more when the minutes are sent out
If you have any suggestions for me about this forum or the main site, don't hesitate to email me at the link above(mouse over my name)...and if you go to the meetings you know who I am, I welcome your input...afterall, this is OUR site...
